President Donald Trump’s overhaul of US refugee policies has created a major shift in the number and nationalities of people admitted to the country, US government data shows.

Since October 2025, 4,499 refugees were resettled in the US, according to the Refugee Processing Center. All, except three from Afghanistan, were South African.

In the last full fiscal year of the Biden administration, which started in October 2023, 125,000 people were accepted from 85 countries.

Last year, Trump halted all refugee admissions, including for applicants from warzones, but allowed Afrikaners, a white minority group he said was persecuted, to seek resettlement. South Africa objected to his characterisation.

But even whites need some millions to survive in that dystopian shit hole. I have more money than I would ever need but would feel too poor to emigrate there…

I’m not kidding when I say that my cousin wasn’t aware of the immigration crackdown in the US before migrating there with his then partner. My cousin was a sailor and probably either missed plenty of international news, or only focuses on our home country’s news, because of his constant travelling.

I get that. But still…don’t people inform themselves strongly before even thinking of emigrating? Even if one lives in a shithole and wants change?

I grew up (genx) when there still was the american dream. And it seemed real. But for the last 20yrs that faded into a dystopian nightmare.

Well yeah, because of the active genocide against white Afrikaners.

Conversely, there’s nothing of interest going on in Afghanistan and the US has no obligations to any sympathizers or collaborators there, so I’m not sure why we’re letting 3 people flood our country.

Edit: this is sarcasm. Can’t believe I need to say it.

Edit: this is sarcasm. Can’t believe I need to say it.

Even here there are some who would say it without any sarcasm, so yes, it needs to be said. Or better indicated. Quotes around “active genocide” with the same article link would probably make it more obvious.

I expected it to be sarcasm and still re-read to make sure.

You do realize many people don’t generally read every comment in detail, especially ones they saw as right wing rethoric because of your first sentence? It’s not like there is much to gain from reading such a comment properly.

Your first mistake is that the first sentence was too convincing, making any hints later that isn’t a literal sarcasm indicator completely useless to a lot of people. A joke is all about the delivery, and a good comedian adjusts their delivery to their audience. By the way you react to people, I can tell you have trouble with both of those.

That sounds like a them problem. Really. If they can’t read a comment that freaking short before jumping ship then don’t interact with it at all.

By the way you react to people, I can tell you have trouble with both of those.

It’s a different user. I’m a third different user. Maybe read the whole thing before criticizing so strongly??

It is, but the same people that refuses to use the sarcasm indicator are the same ones that complains when people miss their sarcasm. I always say there is a non-zero chance people will miss the tone when reading text, so don’t complain when people do when you refuse to use the sarcasm indicator. If you’re gonna complain about it, it is now a your problem, as well.

It’s a different user. I’m a third different user. Maybe read the whole thing before criticizing so strongly??

You’re right. I should have gone back to the original comment and read the username before replying. I’m surprised how many different people are reacting so defensively for a joke comment they didn’t make.

I’ve been a volunteer with refugee resettlement for years (still doing it because to leave now would hurt our on-going services to real refugees). From what I’ve seen, these are less ICE recruits and more in-line with the replacement theory” ideas. They’re trying to abuse the funds and infrastructure set aside to help deserving refugees and bolster their influx of the “right” kinds of people. And to an extent, it does work. If we didn’t help their refugees, we’d lose funding and support; if we quit in protest the people who came here earlier and are still settling would lose their support.

Most of the ones I’ve met seem more like someone you’d see holding a sign behind Trump at a rally than hardcore Proud Boy. They seem middle class, average education, entitled, resentful, and like they don’t actually need the help of our resettlement program. Most refugees come in with nothing; most of these folks have plenty.

And while it’s a sad statement on society, don’t discount the hate and bigotry of the homegrown MAGAts. They’ve hated refugees for years because they think they get a free ride into what they were born to (or worked hard to get). The whiteness is not an automatic “welcome” even if the politics match. They’re almost as hateful towards any immigrant regardless of color. I overheard one refugee upset because a MAGAt called her a “white n*word”. Welcome to America, land of hate.

125,000 resettled down to 4,500. That’s people admitted, i.e. so-called real refugees who have been found to need and deserve our help. Down to only helping white Afrikaners. Outrageous. Letting innocent immigrants to rot. Wipes his large ass with “bring me your huddled masses”
