I think this every single time I see news about that website. Like what the fuck is possibly on there that justifies using that piece of shit platform? Insanity.

Tech news. Fast tech news. It’s well centralized. Unfortunately nothing comes close (not reddit, nor HN, nor lemmy).

People. Lots of people. Including Doctor Cory Doctorow and Molly White.
Cory Doctorow is on mastodon, just like Molly White
I dont really care that the average person still uses twitter… What’s INFURIATING is that gov’t agencies are still using that shit. Why are important pieces of information still being shared on twitter??
My friend works for a local town that has a presence on fb, twitter, and inatgarm. The main reason he says they haven’t moved to platforms like blsky is because as a government entity they are required to be able to archive all online communications for situations like a Right-to-know request but run into the issue that these small platforms aren’t supported by the archiving software so they can’t move away completely until then. Fun fact: 1st amendment prevents the government pages from removing or hiding comments you leave on their posta
Would that stop them from duplicating the information on other platforms?
It does if it can’t be archived, any official posts must be available for a right to know request so they could post on Facebook or twitter but other sites that don’t have a way to archive or a third party to archive they can’t make official posts
But my question is, does it not count as being archived if it’s exactly the same message that’s posted to another platform that is archived?
It doesn’t because you’re not just arching the original message but any comments and reactions that message receives as well
I feel like the common use cases are:
- you’re MAGA nut
- you’re not a MAGA nut, but you want to see what the loonies are talking about
- You’re a marketer or influencer and you know MAGA nuts also buy shit
I’m guessing also - 3b. and you know they buy stupid shit
I bet I could sell MAGA a “tactical” survival kit that’s just an old fanny pack with a bag of jelly beans inside labeled “blowjob tree seeds”.
A lot of people in this thread are falling for the classic weasel headline reporting trick of using the word “after” to imply a connection, when there’s zero evidence in the article body to suggest it means anything other than two different events happened a day apart.
Hot dog!
There are more terrible people that will be happy to take the job
I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.
Translation: I’m so thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to devote 2 years of my life to a company that was able to build a product that could appropriately express its true love for Adolf Hitler.
Real translation: thanks for the paycheck. Remember me when you need another yes person to be your scapegoat.
Scapegoat? Is anyone actually blaming her for the Hitler shit? I have my beliefs about where those orders came from.
In response (or so it seems) to her tweeted resignation, someone managed to get Grok to sexually harass her

I mean, that’s shitty, but there’s no way in hell it’s the worst thing she’s had tweeted to or about her during her tenure. If all the insanity spewing from Grok and X users up to now didn’t phase her, I’m guessing she’s not bothered by this either.
(Not to say she or any other women deserves to be talked to or about like this. But by now people working at or using X know what they’re involved with and have made a choice to be there, so they must be okay with it at some level.)
