  • Bombing schoolchildren on the first day kind of scared the opposition back to reality. Until then they could convince themselves that Israel and the US were there to help them, but then they finally got the memo. They also martyred their leader and some of his family in a culture that values martyrdom.

This doesn’t mean that there aren’t valid grievances and tensions, but they can leave that aside during the war. Whether they fundamentally agree with their leadership or not they’re still rallying behind the flag and materially defending their nation.

The last thing I wanted to say is that the not identifying as Iranian is greatly exacerbated by the CIA and Mossad, it’s not the first time foreign intelligence tries to pit ethnic groups against each other, but Iran is still a home to many different ethnic groups, it’s not an ethnostate and it doesn’t have to become one (or many).

  • Am I now? I don’t think so, next you will tell me that 996 isn’t a thing?

966 was a real problem in the private sector, especially in the tech industry, but the government started cracking down on it at least as early as 2021, you can read about that on the Financial Times. I went through a few sources reporting about 996 in China from 2023 onwards and all I could find was NGOs funded by the US government, a research paper that survereyed 12 people working from home during the pandemic, and personal stories without receipts.

It’s true that working hours tend to be higher across Asia compared to western countries (google the working hours in South Korea or India for example), but the difference is that the standards of living and purchasing power of Chinese workers is growing year after year.

It’s like you didn’t even know that there are EU worker rights that apply consistently across the whole EU.

My point was more that the guarantees, wages and welfare you experience as a worker is different depending on your status and country, unless you believe healthcare, education and paid leave are treated the same uniformly. Not every country in the EU is like Sweden or Germany.

  • You’re very misinformed on worker rights on China and overlooking that Europe isn’t consistent in worker rights internally, the welfare and rights depend heavily on every state. You’re also pretending that a deindustrializing region is in any way comparable to the factory of the world with a straight face. Europe benefits greatly from past colonialism and current neocolonialism, so of course the GDP per capita will be high. Just wait for Africa and Latin America to become more sovereign and it will all crumble.

  • We can see it in the modlog, so it’s not a real issue. The modlog says you posted misinformation, and after reading the message I concur. The vast majority of the global south are clearly aware that China is a better partner because they don’t force us to take predatory loans, restructure your economy, apply austerity, etc. They recognize our sovereignty and invest in development and infrastructure. They even pardoned a lot of debt in Africa.

If you’re missing this key difference (and, you know, how the US, usually with their vassals, keep carpet bombing random countries, forcing regime changes and hitting civilians of neutral countries with drones, while China hasn’t dropped a bomb for decades) then we can’t treat you seriously.

Finally, whether you consider yourself a lefty or not, until you deconstruct more, inform yourself and stand in solidarity with the people of the global south you’re not my comrade. Our world is built on our backs to support the excesses of empire, and China is building an alternative.
