I’m not sure about the technicallities, but yes, that’s my experience. Yesterday I had someone delete a post while I was commenting on it and when I pressed send, it gave an error. I could still see the post, because I had it loaded in my app, but when I went to look at the poster, they didn’t have it in their history anymore. I could still navigate back to the post then, but now I can’t find it anymore.

Probably the auther changed their mind. Maybe because they thought it wasn’t a good question after all. Maybe they didn’t like the comments. You’d have to ask the author, if you still have the post loaded somewhere.

I’ve fallen for it a few times when I was younger, but nowadays I just refuse all free stuff. Not all things are so malicious, but I can’t be bothered to be on my guard all the time. Like I often get offered free stuff at the train station. It’s usually just some unmotivated student who’s standing there because they’re getting paid.
