  • From the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli. Ratified by the Senate which had just recently approved the Bill of Rights, and signed by President John Adams.

“As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religious or tranquility of Musselmen, and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.”

  • I think it pretty much did, though perhaps the article has been updated since you posted.

Eatherly, 28, turned his body “in a bladed stance” toward Fox and reached for a firearm in his jacket pocket, after which a “physical altercation” happened, the warrant said. Eatherly fired his weapon and Fox was struck multiple times, according to the document.

The physical altercation occurred after Eatherly settled into a fighting stance and grabbed the gun in his pocket. It seems like that was be the provocation for the physical fight. Even with it being Tennessee, and Fox being black, it seems unlikely that a jury will find that Fox provoked the altercation verbally and justified Eatherly using lethal force.

  • I genuinely cannot believe that they think this is a good idea.

They probably don’t care if it fails. I imagine that on some level it’s just a high tech version of The Producers.

The owners make this announcement then start to harvest piles of money from gullible investors. Once they rake it all in, they piss it all away on their own paychecks and benefits packages as well on payments to suppliers and consulting firms. Of course, the same people also own the suppliers and consulting firms so all that money goes into their pockets as well. And it probably works out better if the product bombs because then those gullible investors won’t expect to see any profits.

  • According to the article, they are mainly intended as defensive devices. Think of them as anti-drone cardboard chaff.

AirKamuy Chief Engineer Naoki Morita said that the cardboard drone was mainly envisioned as a counter-drone device. The idea is to fly a swarm of drones in front of other targets and absorb blows. “This is regular cardboard, so no special foam board or material, so every cardboard manufacturer can make this plane,” he said.

But other uses are possible. Naoki said that the AirKamuy 150 could carry around three pounds, which is just enough to carry a small amount of supplies or munitions to a target and it’s not hard to imagine swarms of incendiary cardboard drones slamming into targets in the near future.

  • but also maybe we shouldn’t turn running full speed into a house of religion, no matter how hokey that religion may be, into a trend?

No. The whole thing was started by a bad sci-fi author who felt he could make a lot of money by inventing a fake religion. It’s just a scam to rip off gullible people. Hopefully, enough mockery will make prospective joiners think twice before they get taken for all their money.

  • Data shows 85% of those infected in the state have been not vaccinated against measles as dozens are hospitalized

The data also therefore shows that 15% of those infected were vaccinated. That means that these anti-vaxxer twats are causing responsible people to catch dangerous diseases that they would have otherwise been shielded from by herd immunity. People who refuse to be vaccinated should be banned from public spaces like planes, trains, busses, etc.

They should also be banned from businesses and other public venues unless those venues specifically and publicly advertise that they are open to the unvaccinated. That was the rest of us can avoid going to places where we may be exposed to pathogens that could overwhelm out vaccine derived resistance.
