Let’s be a bit cynical and devils advocate:
How will they finance the marketplace if no one will give off a cut to the platform and everything to the artist?
IMO the bandcamp day is the better compromise, but maybe increase the days (because I think they are a monthly thing, right?) to 2-4 times a month instead.
I suppose they could make a mandatory minimum if they needed to. It’ll be interesting to see the numbers from this “donation” model first though. From the sounds of it the amount of paid staff sounds pretty minimal.
Been snagging some albums and I really like how the platform cut is optional.
