As global battery demand continues to surge, the number of end-of-life batteries from electric vehicles alone is expected to grow from 1.2 million in 2030 to 14 million by 2040. Battery circularity technologies enable the reuse and recycling of these batteries and, as with battery technologies more generally, Asia currently leads the way. At the same time, there has been significant growth in European innovations.
People don’t feel like it cause they don’t wake up one day with a 7x increase in battery life.
But just compare literally any battery powered device from 10-15 years ago with today, it’s just a huge difference.
These technologies get implemented slowly due to the fact that the first versions of a tech might have small improvements over the previous, but have much higher headroom for improvements once the manufacturing techniques are worked out.
