Sim racing works great for me. Anything from Moza, Logitech, and even my PXN wheel “just worked” out of the box on cachyOS. Bazzite is now getting wheel support. I did have to add USB descriptors for udev rules on my simmsonn pedals, and also learn to always disable steam input and use glorious eggroll proton. JacKeTus did a fantastic job with the ffb driver and I see him on matrix ALL THE TIME helping newbies and getting stuff working.

Nah, he would have removed his DE.
I really like the simsonn plus x pedals I picked up. The brake pedal has way better feel and modulation, and they’re adjustable about a billion ways to Sunday. I haven’t adjusted anything yet because I’m working on a frame to invert them out of 2020 extrusion.
The r5 should work perfectly out of the box, and install boxflat to do any tweaking you may need. Hopefully you take the plunge and things work well for you.
Just got into sim racing as a longtime Linux user. iRacing doesn’t work because they’re lazy about enabling anticheat, but ac, beamng, and others work great. What hardware do you have in your rig? FFB “just worked” with my pxn vd6, and I had to write up some udev rules to get my simsonn load cell pedals running, but it’s been smooth so far. There is a matrix chat you can join from simracingonlinux dot com that has excellent information and folks to help.
Then Linux Mint is what you’re looking for.

Fair point. I really do wish it were more than “Pixel, or MotorolaSoonTM” for hardware choices. Who knows, though. Maybe other manufacturers will join the party.

If you live in the united states, then you DO need protection against police and state attacks.

Was away for a few days and just saw this reply. Yeah, brake fluid is super corrosive, especially on glass. The DOT rating (3, 4, 5, etc.) doesn’t play a role in how corrosive it is, it’s more about the different additives and composition of the specific fluid and what it’s service life is. The more you know…

Brake fluid would etch the glass of the lenses. Cleaning the surface wouldn’t return the camera to service. Better than paint would be any other substance to thin out the brake fluid for application, particularly if it were less noticeable than paint. That would cause the repair order to come in from lost data collection rather than a report of vandalism, denying them creeping time and that sweet, sweet data. Definitely don’t do that.

she’s a giant asshole and not a talented enough liar to cover it up.

Not really. It can all be faked. Virtual Directory Servers are a thing. Live javascript transformation of data from a non MS LDAP server, functioning as AD. Just match up the schema, and go. You get real multi master replication (no idea if MS has this now, but they didn’t at the time) and an actually performant server. Plus all the logs just pipe over to your syslog server so you don’t have to rdp into a server and look at event viewer. It can all be done from the shell on the jump server you use to manage everything else.

AD is just LDAP with extra steps.

Lilygo uses old stock bb keyboards, I think. Looks exactly like the one an employer had me carry.

Swapping out tubes (and opamps on your DAC) is very much a thing, and I’m convinced that I can hear the difference between a sovtek tube and a Chinese clone, but that could be all in my head, as it wasn’t a blind test. Do some research on the amps, but for computer use, Fosi mc331 has an integrated DAC and puts out about 100w per channel. If my computer didn’t already have active studio monitors, I’d have pulled the trigger on it by now. For $116, it’s hard to resist.

If you can, I highly recommend you try it out. There’s relatively inexpensive tube amps, even on Amazon that you could play with and box back up if it’s not your cup of tea. I just looked at the compressor I use and the price has gone up to a point where it doesn’t make much sense anymore, but it is SUPER useful to add some warmth in between a digital source and the class d amps I use in my PA system.

I’m curious if you’ve tried listening to lossy compressed audio through a vacuum tube output stage? I use a cheap tube compressor with the attack and release turned to minimal and just a little bit of extra makeup gain so that the tube colors the audio a small amount. Think of it like sanding the layer lines of a 3d print, but for audio. It does introduce a small amount of hiss and colors the midrange a bit more prominently, but you can eq that out.

If you are using the files played back at different tempos or keyshifted, the difference between lossy and lossless is a lot more apparent. For standard playback at normal pitch, mp3 is just fine.

I hate it that you’re so right about this.
For me, the primary benefit is that it’s NOT my smartphone. Music is a separate, intentional thing, divorced from the pocket distraction machine. YMMV.
