I’ve trusted this site for a long time. https://shucks.top/

I got you fam. I’ve been making a decent monthly donation for years. Consider one of those on your behalf!

Can I get this with a few more pixels?

Not the exact answer you’re looking for, but a $500 Mac mini would be a fantastic solution. That or an entry level MacBook Air.
I run Linux on my desktop for most things but all my music production is done on MacBooks. If you want a turn key solution, this is the way.
Every vst, midi device and mixing console I have just works. Well worth the sub $1000 investment.
Hell, my touring setup runs off a 8 year old MacBook Pro you could likely pick up for under $400.

Additionally, you can purchase “parts” bags/kits which are marketed as “repair accessories” for 11+ rd magazines(usually 30 rds for 5.56 and 7.62). These somehow skirt around the law from my understanding. You’re buying the complete mag, but assemble it yourself.
I missed out on the 1st gen pebble but had a buddy who loved his. Y’all may be talking me in to checking this new one out.
And agreed on the pine faces. I’ve been of half a mind to learn how to make them so I could have more variety.

For anyone looking for a similar device in the interim (long battery, open source) the PineTime is a great device.
Julie Christmas is a personal favorite.
The Battle of Mice records are harrowing (content warning for DV). Made Out of Babies was incredible as well. Same for her work with Cult of Luna. Some really, really unique vocals there.
My personal favorite is the Spylacopa Self Titled record. That album was a great blending of styles and guest artists, but Julie’s work stands out.

Do you have F-Droid installed? Not to pull a docker, but it is opening for me on 2 separate devices.

IronFox is the closest alternative. F-Droid repo here:

I’ve been considering a pair of X-reals out of curiosity but they are right at the tipping point for tech I may not use enough to justify the purchase. Even the price drop in the article still isn’t quite enough.

I don’t think its good per se but I can see the value in your point. Especially in regards to it just being a distraction. Everyone is sure honed in a map rename when there’s other more legitimate issues to address.
But, gulf of America nonsense makes easier distraction headlines.

I don’t feel like I wasted the time watching it thankfully. Despite the criticism’s leveled against the excessive use of the trope, I did enjoy the show and am looking forward to the final season in a few days.
Huge caveats though, mainly;
I had it on as a background show while playing low impact video games, making dinner and decompressing after work.
And, this is a big one,
I was the exact right age when Karate Kid released. It was a top 3, core memory movie of my childhood and the show mines that nostalgia pit in a way that kept my anxiety riddled brain on a constant dopamine drip.
If you share a childhood love of the original movies, seeing Billy Zabka play Johnny again and develop him into one of the most endearing, fully realized characters in modern media is phenomenal.
If neither of those apply though, steer clear. You’ll likely not be able to get past the repetitive, tropey speed bumps.

Just got done marathoning Cobra Kai. The entire premise of about 90%+ of the conflicts on that show are based off this very trope. It was even more obvious when watching back to back seasons and they seem to show tons of character growth when someone actually talks, only for those same characters to go right back to the toxic silence immediately in the next episode.

Signal is available on all those platforms.

Thanks for this comment. It perfectly conveys empathy for the fans and respect for the artist. I needed that little dopamine hit.
Naw, they’re tenuously connected aside from some specific moments and characters across the franchise.
Story wise it’s all pulp horror/scifi. If you want to play the highlights, the remakes of part 2 and 4 from the 2010’s are fantastic games and each stand on their own. 7 & 8 are a more modern style and really good straight horror experiences but not necessary to enjoy Requiem. The other entires can be rough as they were created with various elements of game design and language we’ve moved past and improved on since.
Resident Evil Characters wiki page can be a fun read for a little more context but not an absolute need.
Alternately if you want to get caught up without a 100 hour investment in play time, Noah Caldwell-Gervais does great long form essays on video game series’ and his resident evil one will get you up to speed for requiem in significantly less time.
I started playing them on original PlayStation release and have enjoyed them all for different reasons. The story is a hodgepodge of 30 years of writers and artists building a world that is both overly complex and charmingly simple. Each release can be seen as a reflection of the world it was created in and the horror and espionage tropes of the time. At the end of the day though, it is a very silly series that understands the ridiculousness of its characters and world and strikes a great balance between that and being genuinely scary.
