Most of the time people have paid a premium for their new watch, camera, door bell, service and you try to point out that it connecting to the cloud or AI is overly complicated and not required for the result they are so happy about. All good. Checkout the flatpak called “gear leaver” for managing and updating appimages. It’s really helpful. If your using a ublue image it might already be installed.

I have used sivlerblue, kinoite and bazite. Each one of them could run appimages. What are you using?

+1 bazzite as well. It comes with waydroid for android apps, its Linux (so WSL covered), it does have a gaming focus, it has various Virtualization tools (toolbox, box-buddy) but you can get other options depending on what you actually want.

Don’t like it you can rebase to one of the other ostree based images from uBlue or fedora with about one command and a reboot.
