Honestly, nah. The screen is awesome, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that I had to replace the main board after 1.5yrs, just out of warranty, means I definitely recommend people don’t buy it. Luckily I found someone on eBay that dropped theirs, shattered the screen, and sold the internal boards for $50 shipped.

I only brought it up because it fits the requirements and I recommend the format. 4k 43"+ or 8k is goated on desktop.

I’ve got a 43" Aorus 4k gaming screen for my desktop. 144Hz, freesync, 2 HDMI’s a DisplayPort and a USBC. There is a 48" OLED as well, but I didn’t have the space for it at the time.

After using a 4k 43" for a monitor for a few years, I definitely both recommend it AND wish companies would make 8k ones.

The only thing that makes it a TV IS the tuner… and honestly it’s not bad to have in an emergency or for local OTA stuff anyway. If I never use it then having it doesn’t matter.

Cheaper and easier to upgrade the constellation to newer and faster tech. If you have backwards compatibility, you just start launching v2 and v1 will eventually just burn up, and hopefully finish just in time for v3 to start launching so you only have to be compatible with n-1 versions.

Thats not quite right. Sure Cali sets the emissions standards in the US for cars because they are the strictest, but it’s not because cali is big. Manufacturers don’t want to have to build and track multiple versions of vehicles for different states. Thats a huge pain. So they pick the strictest one and go with it because then it works everywhere.

Similarly they added day time running lights for all their North American cars because Canada wanted it. There was no law against it, so they again made one version of the car for the entire NA market and don’t have to care where the car ends up.

In this case, if some other state decides to enact more stringent regulations about age verification, they will meet that one, no matter the size, because it will mean they only have to follow one standard for the whole area. Dealing with a specific state’s laws over another is a pain so if one standard can take care of all of them it saves lots of time and money to just support the most restrictive one.

My 2013 MBP is still at 8GB. With memory compression, I rarely run into issues unless I’m doing VMs/Docker or something really heavy.

Oh man, when they get native mobile apps, I’m looking to switch my Mattermost server to Fluxer. I’ve had good luck with Mattermost, but its not truly OSS and its been moving features over to paid enterprise accounts so the time is soon.

This really depends on Keyfob range. My current cars tend to be around 50ft, though i haven’t tested it tons past that. Prior to these, I had a Mazda Protégé5 that I could lock/unlock from 300’+ with line of sight. Thats more than enough to start/cool/heat/etc without actually leaving the house.

Honestly, even 50ft is probably fine. Only time I can think of wanting more would be leaving a large venue and wanting it heated/cooled in the parking garage before I got there… but I’d be worried about it being stolen while running at that point.
