Maybe capitalism enables patriarchy through entrenched power structures propping up men, but it generally enables all kinds of cultural hierarchies as tools to keep the masses divided. Singling out any division as something that enables capitalism doesn’t make much sense.

Prosecutorial discretion is the real issue in most of these cases. If it were brought before a jury it could easily be argued that they tried literally nothing else before killing this person, so how could they reasonably believe anything? But it may never get to a jury because the DA might be a racist dirtbag who just decides to never press any charges.
Our best hope is the GOP imploding due to the massive power vacuum Trump’s death will create. There is a lot of discontent among Republicans right now, they’re all just too afraid (or still too loyal) to Trump to oppose him directly. But Vance? He has the charisma and popularity of a wet paper towel. There will be no hesitation throwing him under the bus.
And they are no better than answering machines for customer service. Sure, they can answer basic questions, but so can the automated phone systems.
This is what drives nuts the most about it. We had so many incredibly efficient, purpose-built tools using the same technologies (machine learning and neural networks) and we threw them away in favor of wildly inefficient, general-purpose LLMs that can’t do a single thing right. All because of marketing hype convincing billionaires they won’t need to pay people anymore.

This is not at all above board. Budgets and Departments are squarely in Congress’ jurisdiction, and it’s Congress’ job to step in and impeach him for overstepping his authority. Unfortunately, the fascists took over Congress as well and they’re cheering it on.

Saying an ISA is just a hardware API vastly oversimplifies what an architecture is. There is way more to it than just the instruction set, because you can’t have an instruction set without also defining the numbers and types of registers, the mapping of memory and how the CPU interacts with it, the input/output model for the system, and a bunch of other features like virtual memory, addressing modes etc. Just to give an idea, the ARM reference is 850 pages long.

Having worked at a Target like this, I can assure you there is still a lack of inventory on top of these stores being extremely short staffed. Target in particular completely eliminated their storeroom staff a few years ago and just doubled the work load of the floor staff. Both the floor and the storeroom were absolute nightmares to navigate because there were not enough people to actually organize and stock.

I also have ADHD (and know a lot of people with it) and totally agree. We may be hard to understand at times, but we have a clear line of tangents that can be explained. The victim “pressing charges” is just a fancy way of saying reporting the crime. It’s not something that needs to happen for the prosecutor to file a criminal complaint. Though, in a case like this they would probably rely on the victim’s testimony, so there may not be a case if she doesn’t want to cooperate.
Probably millions of dead. The American Civil War only lasted four years and the death toll is somewhere between 650,000 and 1.5 million. A modern war would either be extremely quick or a long running insurgency that ends up with potentially millions dead.
