Solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short

Companies: “You are nothing but a cog in a machine. You will be placed in the machine if and only if you help the machine generate maximum profit. If your presence ever causes the machine to generate less than maximum profit you will be summarily discarded.”
Employees: “Okay, so you try to get the maximum profit for you and I try to get the maximum profit for me.”

Silicon Serfdom?
No that’s still capitalism. Capitalism is still the problem. To call it anything else is apologetics, the core issue is that the private ownership of the means of production leads to a concentration of power in the hands of precisely the wrong kind of people after selecting for and reinforcing the most selfish behaviors in them. It then allows them to essentially usurp whatever form of government exists.

The steam deck is how you prevent piracy. If you look at the huge influx of streaming services, you’ll see an example of how you encourage piracy. I recently dropped three of my services in favor of one pirate site that has almost everything. They even offer a subscription tier and I’ve considered it. I’m willing to pay for good content. What I’m not willing to do is pay dozens of middlemen across multiple companies to rip off the people who actually make my favorite shows and then memory hole the shows a few months after they premiere.

This was a hit.

Desperately trying to find that meme of Bernie Sanders where he says that he’ll make gay marriage mandatory if he becomes president. “And if you’re not gay, too bad. I’m your husband now and we’re in LLLLOOOOOVVVEEEEE”
vegan food isn’t expensive. artificial meat replacements are expensive, because you’re paying someone to chemically torture plants until they vaguely remind you of animals. lentils, beans, and other awesome-tasting protein sources are dirt cheap. vegan-first dishes are great and really cheap.
I didn’t even think to recommend Poogle. Thank you!
Polygonal phylogeny

You’re dedicating a lot of time and effort getting pissed off at something that doesn’t matter to you at all and I assure you that you might think you’re saying what everyone else is thinking but actually you’re just off in a corner by yourself fuming.
Get help.
quadferrets copulating
That’s where you’re messing up. Those are pentacoyotes, not quadferrets. The contact side between two polygonimals mating is actually obscured, so the actual number of sides in a copulation configuration is the sum of the sides of all involved polygonimals - 2. Therefore the octorca could not be two mating quadferrets, but could be two pentacoyotes, or a chain of duodugongs.
Its a 6 sided bear, the peak of the polygonal phylogeny.
Monomouse
Duodugong
Traye-aye
Quadferret
Pentacoyote
Hexbear
Heptaherpeton - this is the furthest we’ve discovered in the polygonal phylogeny but research indicates the likely existence of an octorca as well

Are you a thief?
I think that when they define “thief” as someone who will watch a TV show on Dailymotion when there’s no other way to get it, they’re going to be surprised how many people (especially schoolkids) are willing to say “Yes, I’m a thief.”

the military is a cult that tricks children into dying for the wealth of the owner class. they tell you you’re defending “freedom” but you’re defending the gravest enemies of freedom that currently exist.
California gets trotted out in the conservative media sphere as “liberalism run wild”, a place where being what they consider to be a “real American” is illegal but crime is subsidized by the state, where everything is expensive and dangerous, and homeless people have gay sex in the street. There’s an entire industry focused on filtering for the most extremely awful news they can find in a state of almost 40 million people, packaging that news as though it’s the typical experience everyone there goes through, and then blasting that news into the brains of Americans 24/7. That image, carefully crafted to be as extremely negative as possible, is the only experience most people have with California.

it’s universalizable. I’d be okay with someone keying my car if I purposely parked like an asshole, so it survives the ax murderer paradox
once again - not a ban, a seizure. Steve Mnuchin is heading a group of government insiders who want to buy TikTok, and this bill bans it if and only if they don’t sell. The government has decided that TikTok is a dangerous propaganda and espionage network and intends to steal it and run it themselves. Even if you think that TikTok is that dangerous you have to ask yourself: why is it legal for everyone else and why does our government want so badly to do it themselves?
