Indeed. It will be a shitshow with all sorts of attempts to juice the share price via obfuscation of the actual abilities, like musk has been doing already. It won’t have many tangible outputs, but they’re desperate for the next big growth idea, so here we are.

Robotics. It will be a pivot to robotics.

Can you not just make sure YouTube gets none of your money by using a front end that strips out all ads and sponsored segments? My kids watch YouTube but they’ve never seen an ad.
My case in point. Instead of farming out translation jobs for 12 languages in WPML to people, we now auto translate all content via AI. That’s jobs lost. Complicated legal docs is an edge case in the content world.
Cursor is agent mode with Claude 3.7 absolutely writes well enough after indexing our codebase to mean less junior devs. I’m sorry that doesn’t fit into your narrative.
That’s not to say the world isn’t full of AI slop, and there aren’t huge issues around LLMs, But there are some solid use cases for this technology in replacing meat bags.
Translators and junior level devs.

Wait until the price of eggs and gas goes up

LLMs are not advancing enough any more. There just isn’t any more useful human generated text to train new models on. The net is already full of AI generated slop. OpenAI currently spends 2.35 USD to make 1 USD. It’s fundamentally unsustainable.

What enshittification? I haven’t noticed any dark patterns in the Bluesky app.
I’d gladly pay a subscription for a useable service than have ads plastered all over it. It’s infinitely better than the shitshow that is X.

XRP at least has instant feeless payments. No consumer protection though. Some banks use it for intra-bank transfers.
Just yesterday I banned Facebook’s user agent that is supposedly only used to generate link previews. It was being extremely aggressive, making 20 requests per second. At the time I thought “I bet they’re actually building their own search index”, and here we are.

I haven’t read wired in a few years, and it looks like I haven’t missed anything.

Daily Mail?
Brass Eye was incredible for shining a light on media and political hysteria. Their episode on drugs was hilarious and tragic.

I don’t think it’s earned by Murdoch, but otherwise agree with the sentiment.

It’s not fine. They are not archiving the internet.
I had to ban their user agent after very aggressive scraping that would have taken down our servers. Fuck this shitty behaviour.

The charges this guy is facing are insane.

Commodore’s management were way too incompetent for the Amiga to survive, unfortunately.
No AI bro company is on the path to AGI. Transformer technology will not lead to AGI.
