Sorry no :(
It’s an “IRL” friend only thing, and I don’t want to associate this account with my real name (My IRC instance has my name tied to it)
But I’d be happy to help you get connected to one of the public servers if you need! :)

I <3 IRC
I still run my own server. My friends and I hang out and play with chat bots and send memes and comics back and forth. It’s a pretty chill place to hang out, and it’s super easy to self-host.
Go take back the web that was taken from you.

No, we’re here because the Democratic leadership couldn’t be fucking bothered.

Hillary won the popular vote, and Obama was one of our most popular presidents. While yes, sexism and racism played a role in Harris’ failure, it wasn’t the main problem. Her being a terrible politician, running a terrible campaign, on the coat-tails of a terrible president was the main problem.

Obama: “The truth of the matter is that my policies are so mainstream that if I had set the same policies that I had back in the 1980s, I would be considered a moderate Republican.”
I’ve watched the Democrats move to the right since then

They got a lot of money by selling out their users. They are still getting a lot of money by selling out their users.

Wait, you mean the people that hoard all of our resources and don’t pay taxes will leave? Oh noes! 😱 What will we do without them…
LoL, that wasn’t the original internet. That was years after the internet had been around. <joke here about these kids needing to get off my lawn>

You mean the other side that has been building up and supporting these systems that keep them “powerless”, even when they have had power? The same side that keeps capitulating and trying to “reach accross the isle”?

What is the gain? What is a single gain you think they have milked from their users?
But nobody pays for Firefox? Do you mean the “recommended pages”?

The Democrats generally don’t try to earn votes. They generally only try to appeal to their rich donors. If people stopped voting Blue No Matter Who, and started voting for other parties, then the Democratic Party would either die off, or would have to start fighting to earn votes.

They get money from Google, advertisements, and selling data. Did you think Mozilla made it without paying their employees and executives?

Money for their executives

I wish. I love weed, and it’s waaaaaaay safer than alcohol, but it does have drawbacks. It gives me a lot of anxiety. I know some people who’ve had issues with Schizophrenia. And I know others who’ve had interference with their athsma.

It’s because we let the Democrats get away with being awful. Their goal is to be barely less evil than Republicans. If they had to actually fight for votes, we’d start to see results.

Well then maybe the Democrats should stop following and supporting the Republican policy.

“…from email to LLMs, that nobody self-hosts”
As someone that self-hosts those things, both professionally and personally, I’m gonna have to disagree. I wish more did, but there are plenty of self-hosters out there, they just don’t get headlines.

I get what your saying, and to some extent I agree. But I also don’t think that they would be fighting fascism if they had more power. When they were the majority, they spent their time building up the systems that the fascists are using. They built up the surveillance state, immigration control, torture programs and the police/military powers. They should have spent their time dismantling it, but the Democratics have the mindset of “It’s OK when the Blue Team does these things. Surely the Red Team won’t use that against us!”

It seems to me that they do know how voting works in America: If you keep voting for pro-genocide candidates, you keep getting genocide. Maybe one of the two major parties should try running an anti-genocide candidate.
Youtube has been hiding videos from me for years. I’d look at my “Subscriptions” page, and wouldn’t see anything new. Then I’d go to the channel’s page, and see a few new videos.
That prompted me to start using my RSS reader instead of youtube subscriptions. A more reliable experience, for sure.
