The standard is bad parents, hatred for society and school (honestly normal for many teens/adolescents, esp if bullied), echo chambers that reinforce the hatred (abnormal), easy access to guns (abnormal but often concurrent with bad parents and ofc the US).

This is of course an oversimplification and not every shooter has all of these but there’s been more than enough occurences by this point to know what the majority “reasons” are. The two ways for society to fix this would be to make gun ownership more difficult, and to have parents positively involved with their children.

Republicans dont want to do anything to limit guns until its the “other side” that has them see the lack of anything in the multiple events since Columbine including Uvalde vs Regan as CA governor and Black Panthers having AKs. And in our stage of capitalism the companies do not care about parents spending time with their kids and the unions are weak (though theres been some recent limited improvements there).

And fructose is naturally present in many fruits but high fructose corn syrup is bad.

I mean you get screwed on one side of the equation anyway just because of sunlight hours shortening by the season. Hell, Alaskans have months without meaningful sunlight. And then months with basically 24h sunlight. Unless jobs were to adjust their hours with the seasons theres no way not to get screwed at some point.

There’s an appreciable increase in cardiovascular events and car accidents when we lose an hour. For that reason alone we should stop the stupid clock changing.

It depends a lot on the planet geography and other factors. A global world order or empire is theoretically possible that could result in a majority using a single language. Think if the entire landmass is Asia and Ghengis khan lives a few years longer. There might still be other languages but the majority will have to have some way to communicate with each other especially with any travel based technology similar to ours.

We have interpreted some stuff in broad strokes at least. Arguably whales and chimps also aren’t trying to help our studies much and may not have the same capability of communication depth we take for granted. But a picture dictionary along with audio/visual stuff made by a friendly civilization would certainly be possible and speed things up.

The harder part for an alien would presumably be the multiple different languages from a single planet…would be very interesting if alien life also had that.

A lot of that might also be location based. Where I am right now we’re paying ~1700/mo for daycare. Wife got a job for nearly double our current combined income (for 260k) so moving to Boston, daycare going to ~3000/mo and housing going from 2k/mo to looking at 6-10k/mo. It almost feels like a paycut…but at least driving should become more optional.
