I hear you, I do. It’s just that I’ve supported local bands my whole life, at mostly small bars and clubs. This is a relatively new local band I really want to see before they take off on a world-wide tour and now AXS is making it hard. First world problems, I know. I just don’t want to take out my anger on the band, eh. They don’t control any of this.

And it was the advertisers who complained and won this case. This might still be a win for data privacy, if Apple leaves control over ads in the users’ hands.
Yes, that should work, I believe, though I am no expert. I watch YT via Freetube with my VPN on most of the time, and right now too. I use Mozilla VPN if that matters and have it connected to just some other US city, but as always, YMMV.
As of March 29, Version 0.23.3 seems to have fixed things again, if anyone finds this thread now.

In b4 the snap complaints!
Does anyone else remember back in the early days of the internet when experts used to say, “The internet routes around problems”.
I miss those early days.
To @daggermoon@lemmy.world , I see that a lot with searches now too but I just keep searching or find some other way around the problem. There’s no way I click in to Reddit any more. You do you, but I’m saying there’s always another option.
FreeTube is not working for me either. For now though, I can get the preview and then copy the URL for videos I really want to watch. Then I grab them with Open Video Downloader and watch it in VLC.

So, you are saying Debian is the better choice, right?
Oooh, neat! [Cunningham’s Law] (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward_Cunningham#Cunningham’s_Law) in action!
Just to add to the pile, I have a domain with porkbun and my email with Tuta and they work really well together. But my domain is my name, so grain of salt, I guess…?
I’ve used Tuta for more than 4 years. It’s a solid choice if you accept a couple few things:
they’re a small company, doing their best to survive.
you have to use their client apps. They take security very seriously and assume all of their users do as well.
prices might go up every few years but I am still paying my original rate, for my original features.
the search function does work but is very slow.
But otherwise, I’m very happy and expect to stay with them for the forseeable. Good luck in your search.

_drkt provided no proof of Tuta’s enshittification. There are no paid ads for third party products in any Tuta UI. Don’t panic yet. Read all the comments here, maybe.

Yah, I love that idea of follow up but I imagine if the software is used by hundreds of thousands or more people, they can’t follow up on every case. You’d think that could be largely automated but who knows.

This person gets it. Thank you.

I agree with Nouveau_Brunswick here.
And to add: to @hperrin@lemmy.ca , are you not also a user of software and do you not see room for improvement in many apps? That’s where I am rn: I just want them to try harder to communicate a tiny bit more info when things go so wrong that a message has to be displayed on my screen. Telling me “There’s nothing you can do to fix the problem” would be a big help, for instance. Make sense?

See my update/EDIT above. I feel like most of the replies here are on the same track as you but I still think there’s a better way.

Them:
“What? Oh that? That always happens”
Me:
Grrrrr
Yeah, you’re right, but I still would prefer to see something telling me whether something I did caused the problem or something went wrong in the software / on the server. From this thread, I’m getting that my wishes will not be heard.
I do. Don’t care. But thanks for pointing that out.
