It’s like they can’t come to terms with the way life is and that they might not be the center of everyone’s world. My 5yo has the same problem. Tomorrow doesn’t seem to exist for him, he thinks anything he wants to have he should have because he wants it, doesn’t believe in giving, even to kids he calls “friends” at school, some of something he has and needs it all himself, and getting him to be quiet for a few min while having a conversation with anyone but him will result in him relentlessly trying to get our attention. Oh, and a lot of the stuff he wants to do makes no sense and sometimes goes completely against the laws that govern matter.

Our society is being driven off a cliff by people who have the same mentality as a child who hasn’t learned to share. Grown ass mother fuckers, with no empathy or understanding of their insignificance in the universe, so they go scorched-Earth to get their way. It would be fucking pathetic if there wasn’t so much on the line.

The reply about NK seems out of place. Someone says a joke about strangling a [fascist] baby [in it’s state of infancy] and another mentions some event (presumably involving infanticide) happening in the most repressed and propagandized country in the world, but fails to mention what event they refer to. I am also confused…

Media is not a good place to learn about military life. If you are in the States, you might have a local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). The old guys in there will likely talk your ear off about their experiences, just don’t press for details about specific combat experience unless they broach the subject.

If you want to learn more about the military and their oath, from popular media sources, NCIS is the show to watch. It’s relatively accurate in it’s display of service life, and they cite the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) in what seems like every episode. Now that is the real bread and butter of a military members legal guidance. Every military member is keenly aware of that book, especially when deploying.

I disagree. I’m glad people like my brother’s friend kept trying to reach me when I was still roped into the lies my parents regurgitated from the Republicans and ultra wealthy. It takes effort to get through that wall and reach the person. For me, it was pointing out all the lies I was being a mouthpiece to and checked for myself. He wasn’t mad, or condescending, and through his patience I realized all the shit my parents believed were basically all bullshit.

As for this comment, I get the sentiment behind it, but abandoning these youth as they parrot their parents’, just prove what the right says about the others like the Democrat party. I agree that a lot of their parents are long gone through propaganda and a buildup of lead in their brains, but we can get through to youth if we don’t write them off out of the gate.

Same. Almost died from MMR vaccine as a child. I live in a blue state so I’m not terribly worried, but I may become a test case in avoiding death from this shit before too long. Hope they get it under control and you had your wife never have to experience measles.

I have thought about it. I’d be the Bernie Sanders of my area, unable to sit quietly and watch the world burn without speaking truth to power and making a stink for the right people. Just don’t have the drive to do that right now. Politics just seems like the worst thing to do with whatever life I have left.

My area had local elections yesterday and in all seats where a Democrat ran, they won by at least a couple thousand votes (15+ points). If a Republican candidate ran unopposed, they were under by just about the same number of votes. People here (in Central IL) would rather not vote for anyone than vote for a Republican and I love to see it. Let’s hope the momentum and anger against Republicans continues into 2026 and 2028.

Who knows how shit will fare farther out than a few months from today, but it would be hard to claim election fraud in those elections if there were massive Democrat wins in almost every election, especially those areas that previously went hard for tRump.

Maybe the weird, extra human finger and appendage issues in AI images are a feature, not bugs. Maybe it’s a naturally occurring, unintended consequences of their learning and feedback process to sabotage the output they generate in order to make it obvious the image is fake.

This is a fear my therapist and I have talked about. I didn’t understand why children made me uncomfortable to be around. We discovered that it wasn’t about the kid, nor their age, but the perception. And I think some kids pick up on that anxiety.
