Good luck, with Hormuz closed most of Asia’s LNG shipments are blocked (which TSMC relies heavily on), plus other crucial chemicals for the chip making process like helium

The amount energy that would take is truly unfathomable

The LG V20 had it all, still miss daily driving that phone

I haven’t tried Docker Desktop as the other poster mentioned but I use a similar GUI interface called Cosmos Cloud to manage Docker. It integrates a “market” of easily installable docker apps, graphic interface for managing/updating the containers, internal port management and optional reverse proxy/url management for external access, plus a few more advanced features like VPN and OIDC SSO.
It’s probably overkill for just Jellyfin but if you’ve been considering trying out other self-hosted services I highly recommend it.
Standalone installation is the way to go: https://cosmos-cloud.io/docs/index/

Then I’m not sure what advice we can give you without knowing more about how you installed it and how the file structure and Jellyfin libraries are linked

I would guess you have an issue with your docker volume or bind mount then, assuming you built it as a Docker container?

How are you trying to run Jellyfin? What part isn’t working for you?
I have it as a Docker container in Ubuntu and it works perfectly. The only trick was I had to find jellyfin’s internal docker IP address to do the initial Jellyfin server setup steps.

I stumbled across this site the other day and it’s incredible - all the official windows ISO’s and full activation scripts. Your options are to use his script to activate extended security updates (ESU) for your current windows, possibly modify your windows 10 to the LTSC or IoT LTSC versions, or fresh install either of those LTSC versions. Plain LTSC is expected to receive security updates until 2027, IoT version will receive security updates until 2032.
I’m guessing it must be very plain

Never heard the original definition lol, I wondered why the AI had such a weird name

My biggest problem took a bit to grok
Now that you’re on Linux pop Docker on there and install Ollama/WebUI on there so you can run your own grok at home and not have to support yet another horrible company

There’s a dedicated community just for Linux on the Surface

Beware of BitLocker though - I had no idea it was enabled on my wife’s windows tablet and when I came back from a Linux live image her windows drive was locked. The keys were not in her Microsoft account and we couldn’t find them anywhere else so I ended up having to erase the device. Luckily she didn’t use it for much but find and copy your keys before attempting a live Linux boot.

What was the ASUS privacy update? In the router settings page? I haven’t seen it yet but I don’t use any of their extra services

I think your project has admirable goals, but things like Cosmos Cloud and Casa OS already aim to address this. I think it would be useful for you to show what value proposition yours brings versus their apps, e.g. which parts of selfhosting you think your app handles better. I also agree with @flatfire@lemmy.ca in that much more documentation is needed so the user can educate themselves how the back end works.

Guess I’ll be getting around to starting my own pihole after all

Thanks for this, I accidentally locked my wife’s tablet when I was testing if Linux would run on it from USB drive. Came back to win 11 and it was bitlocked, with no codes in her Microsoft account and no idea where else to find them. Hopefully I can study this and figure out a way to bypass it
This thing launched 50 years ago, it and it’s sister probe are farther from earth than anything else by multiple orders of magnitude, they’re literally outside the sun’s influence. We obviously aren’t getting them back so recovery must mean recovery to an operational state
