Don’t forget to try sorting by comments instead of posts! I often forgot that button exists.
About 20 and growing. I also do it for my mental health. Social media isn’t a place I want to take too seriously so my blocks are about avoiding people who seem agitated or seeking to create or participate in conflict with other members.
I’m thinking about clearing out my blocks every year just to get a sense of the land again, maybe when I’m feeling better I’ll do that.
140 in 2 months sounds like a lot to me. Are you not blocking communities? That might be more efficient?

The forum I used to spend a lot of time on in my youth was incredibly active - comments all night every couple minutes. The regional areas where practically dead. What we need are thriving core communities not critical mass. I like not being bombarded by thoughtless and judgmental comments
I’d guess that 50-100 active users could make any community feel vibrant. I’ve noticed when I post in a smaller community it can get solid responses (fast replies from a dozen or so users), but they die out after a day or two and people need to be posting all the time to keep it up.

At this point I’ve blocked so many .world communities that I don’t see that as much. There are some users who I notice bring the reddit antagonism and I tend to block them too. If I come across a post that is full of reddit quips I just block the whole community. I guess I’ve blocked fewer .ml communities overall.

Ya it’s not bad. In the popular areas it seems like I can get away with just commenting on things but smaller communities I need to make a post to make it feel not-dead in there.
Zombeavers
I haven’t but this is the second time it’s popped up today so I’ll put it on now.
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
I watched this recently. Actual not-dumb characters is sooo nice. I’d written this off as just yet another Romero style zombie movie but it has it’s own thing going on. I think given how much I liked Tusk (saw it last night) and Dale and Tucker vs. Evil I have a soft spot for R rated horror comedy.
Pontypool pairs well with 30 days of night (and Tusk pairs well with The Substance).

This is lemmy so they’re probably angry Germany isn’t bombing Israel like Iran

kagi
I’ve been trying the trial/100 searches a month. Using very sparingly, but I like how it pulls up actual sites instead of ads disguised as websites. Idk if I’d pay $5 or $10USD to use it though. Bit steep.
Millionshort is another one, haven’t used them in a while. The results were meh but nice that you can filter out major websites.

What’s loom?

Lol did you really?

Ghengis Khan is estimated to have been responsible for killing 10% of the world population, which would be more than the entire population of Europe today.
The population of europe today is more than 750 million so that can’t be right.

There are a lot of reasons why Apple would back out. I wish we had more info.

SCI
I looked this up because it’s new to me. AGI is what you think it is, and superintelligent collective intelligence is a collection that can perform tasks. Instead of 1 LLM or 1 AGI doing all the work, you have a team of agents and humans who can talk to each other. AGI seems like far off space tech and SCI is more like a next gen pursuit.

These facilities are expensive, like 20-30B for the big ones. If you’re curious youtube has some good long videos on how these places work. As far as I’ve checked all the gov grants given to companies as incentives (whether chips or energy or other infrastructure projects) only partially cover the costs of construction.
I replaced mine with a usb cable. No batteries.
