Go to Settings, then Apps. Choose your app and then select mobile data usage (or similar, since I translated this from german). There you can find a switch for disallowing network access for the app. Works great

We hypothesise that the production of fully entangled sheep is easy, given how hard it can be to disentangle their coats in the first place. The logistics of assembling the tens of thousands of sheep necessary to factorise RSA-2048 numbers is left as an open problem
Omg, I simply cannot! Thanks for brightening my day with this paper XD

Are there any infos about what an attacker can do with this? The article didn’t say this. Remote Code execution? With the privileges of the app? Reading all files? Or only some? The impact information seems important here.
Yeah, I had thought about this. I already did a floor plan with Sweet Home 3D some years ago, though it didn’t seem fit to also handle the detail work like water and electricity lines. Or at least I have not seen functions for that. I will try it with FreeCAD and then see, how it goes
Wow, didn’t know that FreeCAD also has a wotkbench for buildings! Kinda feels like FreeCAD has a workbench for everything, just that nobody knows of them. Thanks, I will definitely look into that, as I already use FreeCAD for 3D printing
And not traded against fiat in many places due to regulation
I really would like to do without google appa. Though Android Auto has a great value for me, when we go on vacation. Thus I want to be informed about the facts, before I commit to a way to go. And without rooting or custom ROMs the possibilities are limited
Thanks for the suggestion. Seems like aa4mg either needs root (which I currently don’t have done on my phone, since my banking apps are allergic to that) or a custom ROM (which honestly is too much tinkering for my available time and a device I use so much)
e/OS also uses microG. Do you know anything about the privacy implications of those google apps here? As my time is limited currently, I would either just install android auto as per instructions or not doing it at all. Long tinkering, that might easily break other things are not my focus at this time.
That one looks good. Though it seems the process to get the pairing key from the proriatary app on a non-rooted phone is currently broken. My phone is currently not rooted. Don’t know, how that works with rooting on e/OS. If I can root it, get the key and then remove root without wiping the phone, then I might do that.
That is a US based company, so with shipping and taxes I certainly would also reach the over 60€. Honestly I wasn’t that happy with my Pinetime. I tought about buying it again (destroyed mine when I dropped it) because it is cheap (26€). But for 66€ I might just get a different watch, that works with gadgetbridge
I’m currently also at that point, trying to decide what to buy.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a smart watch with good compatibility with gadgetbridge? I’m not sure where to look (gadgetbridges list is long).
Something with a color display, maybe a week of battery life, being able to show my notifications and configuration without needing the manufacturers app
In the EU store it is currently out of stock and also priced at 66€. Can it be, that this is a victim of the US-EU trade war, that Trump started?

Thats why other countries are doing it that way. The problem is, that the US system makes it very difficult to get an ID for its long list of undesireables. And with that I mean everyone, who is not white, heteronormative, cis and not-poor. If the US fixes these problems and issues IDs for every of its citizens, then requiring the ID for voting is a good idea. Unfortunately that is a big big If, carrying a lot of weight.
Did the crowd also sang “Ill is in the box!”? >.<
Thanks, will definitely have a look at them
Honest question: Is there a good comprehensive easy to follow source for reading/listening/watching up on the theory?
At some point some user linked to a long reading list, where I stopped frustrated after 2 hours of reading and still being non the wiser. In all that time there must be some resource, that is more engaging and especially talking about modern life, not the life in the times of Marx (yeah, I know that the fundamental principles are the same). I’m also ok with multiple hour youtube videos, as long as there are skillfully made and engaging.
And its not like there even is a same place. Position is relative, but to what in this case? Doesn’t even make sense

You are just assuming, that MS actually knows and cares for what users want. In my experience its the other way round. MS will introduce a change/new behavior and user have to adjust their own behavior, because most are not willing to switch to a competitor program.
I remember very well how much my father sweared at the computer because MS changed the UI to the ribbon bar. It wasn’t at all what he wanted and MS didn’t care to ask users beforehand.
I have not yet watched the video, but it also depends on how easy it is to find the needed settings and how authorative they are. Previously I was on Ubuntu trying to get Nine Sols working with a usable framerate. ProtonDB hat some comments about the needed settings, each comment saying something different, non of them giving positive results. And for using something like gamemode I first had to install it, which is just another step not provided by anything other than comments.
When I installed Bazzite on the same PC (which was torture in itself because I didn’t want to give it a full disk alone), everything worked out of the box for all my games. That tells me, that Ubuntu had no focus on making the experience for gaming better. Similar to Fedora 43 removing support for old Nvidia cards, while Bazzite still supports them. (I still debate myself on switching again from fedora because of all the hassle)
