  • From what I know you’ll have to compose with a mix of Krita GIMP and Inkscape because those are the three most reliable and feature rich FOSS image editors at this time. In the current capitalist mode of production, free software will hardly be on the level of paid software, however enshittified, because of how many devs get to work full time on it.

Keep in mind that I say this while operating fully on a FOSS environment, because the relative increase in features and reliability doesn’t justify going from free to an absurdly high subscription

I can’t begin to explain how difficult translating a text actually is. When I was at uni, language majors had two dedicated classes, one for translating from your first language and the other for translating to you first language. Both were the hardest classes to pass. I had bilingual friends there who had shit grades solely because their methodology was lacking. In the philosophy department, teachers were constantly discussing who translated what text and how it might impact our understanding. Teachers would compare different translations and ask us to always tell who the translator was in our research exercises.

Language is a fucking mess, translation is horrible, that’s why we only do it when it’s a potential best-seller

  • It can play a role but there are so many other factors. Some people turn to theism to cope with hardships which means they are less unhappy thanks to it. But on the other hand there are people who live a restricted frustrating childhood in a religious family and finally experience freedom with atheism.

It’s more interesting to ask ourselves what precisely religion brings to the table, the negative and the positive, so we can answer difficult political questions in relation to religions
