1·4 months agoRip. I wish I could embed it. You can verify elsewhere. He was absolutely not touched outside of he himself putting his hand on the vehicle. He was a few feet out of the way. He put himself in that position to begin with anyway. So while I’d have sympathy if he were hurt, I still wouldn’t have blamed her in the slightest. ICE training (and border patrol if I’ve understood correctly does) should never encourage how he approached her.

1611·1 year agoGonna disagree with the anarchist viewpoint because physical damage to inanimate objects can still cause PTSD, battered spouse syndrome with enough incidents over time, etc. It’s the threat of danger that matters.
Just because it doesn’t fit your ideological view doesn’t mean people are lying by looking at it differently
First thing that came to mind for me is going after retired federal employees, veterans, etc. Also locating immigrants, even if they’re here legally with documentation.

Well, we can prove the universe exists, but not that it’s some unified, all-powerful thing controlling us all afaik.
It’s why I stick with agnostic atheism. I’m not claiming to know either way on all forms of deism or theism or whatever. There’s enough contradictions and falsifiable claims in all organized religions I’ve been made aware of so far, so I am gnosticly atheist for those specific gods.
Even according to Dawkins definition of sex, there are only two, which is scientifically inaccurate. He’s a fucking esteemed biologist and should know the difference between binary and bimodal.
Maybe I wasn’t clear that the initial problem came from the actors being minors. The scene would have been fine if they had been capable of consent. It’s fucked that Zeffirelli tricked them, even more so because we recognize now they couldn’t have knowingly consented to begin with. It’s similar to the backlash from the movie Cuties. I personally loved the message behind it and appreciated as an adult woman some of the struggles I dealt with at that age represented, but casting children for those roles was not ok.
I’ll add that while we didn’t have the same legal system when R&J was filmed, I apply my moral standards regardless. The same harm occurred whether it was legal or not.
The actors did not consent. That’s the most important aspect of this and not a single sentence of your comment acknowledges the actual problem or the human beings that were impacted to create this.

I’ve slept since I watched and am not great with tech, but iirc the link with the affiliate code when clicked takes you to the site. Then honey has a pop up that, when clicked, replaces the link with their own, swiping the commission. Hope that makes sense - most people likely would not catch it. The Linus tech tips was used as an example of even a tech channel with lots of employees taking quite a while to notice themselves, and even when they did, it wasn’t quite conclusive for some reason?
Another thing the video touched on is that honey would claim to search for coupons but often opt to show what the partnered companies want. So, could be there’s a coupon for 50% but they only show 10%.
I’ll add that two people can experience the same trauma but only one develop PTSD. I started a lecture series on trauma a while back that started off explaining that if you find yourself starting to have symptoms, try to catch yourself and remind yourself that you’re in a learning environment. That’s just one method, and it can be difficult to maintain without further education and training

I don’t think it’s about conversion. I see it as keeping those already born and entrenched having it normalized as part of a “christian nation” to further prevent critical thinking.
