They can either go along with it, or they can ignore Trump (and his puppeteers) and do what is acrually in the best interest of their local community.

Voteing for better local politicians matters.

How are they going to project power into the US?

By corrupting the US government and using its assets against Russia’s other enemies.

Not every power play has to be millitary. Remember that Putin was KGB and understands very well how control and manipulation work.

The big question is what happens when they are no longer supply constrained.

I can’t see that happening unless the AI bubble pops and their insatiable demand for more hardware ends.

It is benign if it is optional, remains 100% local and under the user’s control and doesn’t prevent other software from functioning as expected.

Those are also entirely optional and not having them filled in doesn’t cause other software to stop doing what the user wants.
