As a child in the 90ies I did not know you could buy games, the only way I knew was to copy it from a friend.

Later my cousin traveled to Poland where he bought pirated floppy disks, this is how I realized that you could somehow pay to get access to many new games.

I remember in 1989, when we fled/immigrated from Poland to Germany as Spätaussiedler, we moved to Franconia which is in Bavaria. There were US military bases in every small city even those where there were effectively only 50k Germans lil5jving, they all had a US military base.

Yeah, afterwards I actually looked at Agates code specifically to get inspiration for features where I saw the vhost part.

The thing is also that there was no server available for Ubuntu so it would automatically be updated with the system updates. So instead of keeping it up to date manually, I decided to get some help of a coding agent and we made together a simple static file serving Gemini server which I pu on here: https://git.jeena.net/jeena/pollux

I’m still working on it, especially I want virtual hosts and better parallelism.

I just hope that the time I put in ti Make it secure payed off and nobody hacks my server. Normally I only work on the application layer.

Back in the day Hitler attacked Poland from the west and Stalin from the ost after they started sending troops to the west. They had no chance.

That is the question I ask at the end. If I could pre-pay for 10 years I’d probably do it.

We do it in several ‘stages’, we have a check pipeline to just compile a single component and run the unit tests, that takes perhaps 5 minutes.

Then we build a incremental AOSP build with the change on top. That takes about 40 minutes.

Then we run the incremental build together with all the other changes for the Das and Do a manual smoke test that the most important stuff works and when it does only then we merge all those changes from the previous day. That takes about two to three hours.

Then there is the nightly test where we build the latest main branch and do static code analysis. That takes forever like 4 hours or so.

Then there are release builds from scratch which also run all the google compliance tests for AOSP and those things run practically for more than a day.

I like zuul quite a lot, it’s a bit complicated to set up first but once it’s runnint’s really cool, especially the gating mechanisms can’t be found anywhere else and the dependencies between jobs are very intuitive too.

Yeah, hmm but if it’s not very accessible then I should rethink the font. I’ll think about it and do some tests tomorrow. I myself use the dark theme mostly.
