I like the beginning of An Inconvenient Truth where they have the scale showing the Earth on one side and money bags on the other.

I thought I was going crazy for a minute. I remember distinctly hearing about this arrest years ago. Must’ve been the other one.

Glad to see this judge doesn’t pretend the courtroom is a vacuum, which seems to be the norms these days. Seems like most of the time we get “sure the president tweeted multiple times about committing these crimes, but can we really know for sure that’s what he meant?”

Damn that’s a wild ass story. I just finished reading Michael Connelly’s The Proving Ground which touches on the topic of liability when it AI encourages crimes. I thought the story was a theoretical scenario that could maybe happen in the future. Didn’t realize this shit was already happening - and even more fantastical that the scenario in fiction!

Unfortunately Aurora CO has been in the news a lot over the years for a lot of bad reasons (movie theater shootings, Elijah McClain, and more recently with Tren de Aragua).

As a registered Republican woman from Texas with five children and two dogs, let me just say that I am astonished!

That guy was super well spoken and had a good message. I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of him before. Always nice to see the Streisand Effect in action!

Notice the change to passive voice. “The officer arrived”, “community members pointed”, “somebody was shooting”, “the officer approached”, “he yelled”.

Then just “the officer-involved shooting took place”.

That type of corporate whitewashing of language pisses me off so much. The shooting did not take place. The officer shot the victim.
