The best way to get an avocado to ripen immediately is to plan to eat it in 3 days.
Upon receiving that psychic message, they will commit every bit of energy into ripening ASAP so they can be overripe in 3 days.

Wait what? No, it’s from Undone (The Sweater Song)!
Or am I coming down with the 'heimers?
Edit: It’s actually Say It Ain’t So. Alzheimers confirmed.

It was pretty common when I was in high school in the 90s. But for some reason the kids I knew insisted it was fuck-a-nay.

Semi-related, I’ve always liked the Weezer lyric “Somebody’s Heinie is crowding my icebox”.
It’s a great vague double-entendre, IMO.

What does it mean to truly have free will?
Your brain is billions of electrically-reactive cells and interconnections, and your consciousness is electrical impulses shimmering around those cells in a more or less stable way.
A belief in free will implies the belief that you essentially have control over the physical mechanism that makes up you. A brain may not be a fully deterministic machine in the sense that a certain input condition may not always result in the same output, but it seems like a stretch to say that “you” both directly result from and directly control that mechanism.
I’ll have to give that a try, especially if it means one less thing I rely on Amazon for.
Zojirushi is the GOAT as far as I’m concerned. No other brand I’ve used has kept my coffee hot for as long as they do.
My only gripe is that they like to over-engineer the cap/pouring mechanism in their travel mugs, which makes them tough to clean.
It’s been awhile since I’ve had to replace one, but if I recall you want to get the plain stainless interior for coffee / tea, as it picks up less staining and odors than the coated interior.
Slightly off topic, but there is a product called Astonish, which is amazing for cleaning travel mugs and other things that collect coffee oil buildup. Its hard to find in the US at least, but can be found on Amazon.
Not to detract from the glory of that pizza, but that’s more like 0.3 square meters.
11 square meters is literally the size of a bedroom lol
I think what they were looking for (after a cursory search of the post title) was literally gas prices, not electricity prices lol

I’m not even going to check if this is a real thing or not, because I feel like I’d be disappointed either way.
I’m not going to claim to be a privacy/security expert here, but I think the question is “safe from who/what?” Privacy is a sliding scale with diminishing returns, so you need to set your expectations according to the level of effort you are willing to put in.
If you just want to not be tracked/profiled by commercial big data or standard governmental operations, then an old phone with no sim, wifi/bluetooth turned off, and using wired headphones removes you from a couple tiers of lowest-hanging fruit.
But if you think someone is specifically and actively tracking you in particular, that is a whole other question.

It took me awhile to figure out the correct setup to get Sonarr, qbittorrent, and Jellyfin all to play nicely together, but once you get it figured out, it transparently addresses the problems of folder structure and allowing you to keep seeding content.
I had the same issue as you, initially, where I had to do a ton of library maintenance in Jellyfin. But since using Sonarr to monitor and import media from torrents to a structured media library, Jellyfin has been pretty hands-off

I have not. But if they are on Lemmy, share their username and I’ll get some popcorn lol

Context maybe, and a bit of critical thinking?
Look at the subject of the thread, and look at what they said. It’s clearly not something a MAGA on Lemmy would post in response to a news article critical of Trump, but a parody of what a MAGA would have said that led to the situation being described by the article.
But shit, for whatever reason people on Lemmy see a few downvotes, immediately take that as evidence that it’s a serious comment, and don’t give it a second thought. It’s all over the place here.

I downvoted you because your blatant sarcasm wasn’t punctuated with a “/s”, so there was a 0.007% chance you were being sincere.

Shit, even at historic lows of 3% interest it only drops the monthly payment by about 25%, but increases the total cost of the loan by 80%.
Its absolutely a terrible idea.

IANAL but the precedence means that federal laws supercede state laws in the case of a conflict or ambiguity. It doesn’t (legally) mean feds can just do whatever the fuck they want with no interference from state LE.
Now, maybe there’s a federal law that says certain federal vehicles don’t require license plates. In that case, the federal law could override state laws requiring them. I have no idea if that’s the case though.

I’ve got no dog in this fight, but you’re misrepresenting them.
Their original post says “all the neoliberals and conservatives who voted against Bernie”. It’s not that Bernie, being one man, would have made a difference. It’s that the bloc lining up behind him would have made a difference.
And the fact that he couldn’t beat a bunch of neoliberals and conservatives is OUR (the voting population’s) failure, not his.

I have messed up steaks by salting them too much. But if you pat them dry the day before, sprinkle generously with kosher salt, and them leave in the fridge on a wire rack for up to 24h, it removes some of the surface moisture and helps you get a nice crust.
Packing in salt would definitely ruin them 😩
