Lemmy is far from normal, it is not profitable as a social media platform and is reliant on donations and generosity.

Google AdSense does similar things to meta, as does amazon. This is far from a misuse, of the technology as that implies that this isn’t accomplishing the intended goal, which, aside from laws trying to differentiate children from adults, it does.

famously both android and ios have (default to iirc?) a “feature” which dials the emergency number by repeatedly pressing the power button.

then what other objective part is? if you can’t reliably measure something it isn’t important.

ram can be used to heavily compensate for slow read speeds and can make slow memory leaks less of an issue, also with that much you probably don’t need a swap file/partition.

consider that profiting off volitility and lazyness is generally a good strategy.

In all seriousness though the only solution is for the cost of living to go down and for a UBI to exist so that the average person can choose to not work and strikes are a legitimate threat to business because they can more feasibly last for months.

I don’t know anyfamily who didn’t eat most if not all of the died eggs after or around Easter.

I can barely count the number of alarm clocks that I ended up destroying by hitting the snooze button on two hands.
