Thanks for the great and kind reply! Makes sense.

Is there a difference between one dash - vs two dashes – ? I don’t get why it makes sense to use two as its just an extra key press?
Sorry for going a bit off topic here

You can use any filament you want, it works fine on LAN and SD-cards without online account. There was some debate on the fucked up firmware updating thing, but they did backtrack on this, no?
Sure, but your machine is also 3x the price (at least on my country).
That being said, my next printer will also be a prusa, but mostly because it’s a European company. I’m also for Foss 3dp, but I also don’t want to be caught up in misinformation - please enlighten me if there are serious issues actually happening and not just “well Bambu might do so and so in the future”.

Agree! Will have to look into what the DRM and Bambu thing is about. I built my first MakerBot waaay back at uni so I get and support the idea of the free and open 3d printing community

I have Bambu lab A1 now. Have had ultimaker and various creality printers. Bambu lab is by far the best in terms of print quality, ease of use, reliance and speed. Isn’t this the real reason why it has become popular and not them pressuring reviewers to only do good reviews?
What drama or problems is there with Bambu?

I could live without banking etc. on my phone - has become a habit. Also, android auto is a must for me, unfortunately. Because of the complicated process of getting approval from governmental bodies when implementing technology for cars (safety stuff mostly) I doubt we’ll see any foss alternatives any time soon. Could be wrong - Fisker Ocean cars have a great community that mods the software, but probably wouldn’t have happened if Fisker didn’t go bankrupt.

Problem then becomes that banking, streaming and other apps won’t work because root == security issues (according to the companies who push towards a more closed system). Completely stupid. Like saying that having admin or root rights on your desktop poses such a huge security issue that you cannot login to your bank. Furthermore, if you do root your phone, then you should be comfortable tinkering with technology and understand the potential dangers that such an endeavour might present.

Probably because it’s easier than making EULA for every state and county

LaTeX? Too much bloat. Pen and paper.

Yeah, have been wondering about that qt-fresh package as well…

Tested new update. Seems a little better. Will check out your links, thanks!

In order of ease of use; Nobara (Fedora based), popOS (Mint/Ubuntu based), cachyOS (Arch based, easy enough to use but might be overwhelming because of the amount of linux jargon going on) over bazzite, depending on your friend ability and wish to tinker around with his OS.
I have had problems even dragging dropping files across apps in bazzite and other immutable distros like bluefin. If your friend is interested in tinkering just a little bit then he will be be banging his head across a wall with bazzite. The community support for these relatively new immutable distros is also quite bad when it comes to edge cases.

Good to see focus on performance and responsiveness. On cachyOS I have laggy scrolling through text documents. Will have to test later

High bitrate 1080p > mid/low bitrate 4k and 8k.

True but rather have that then sorting through that myself.

I like the ai assistant answers, seems to not include much SEO bs. Ddg, bing, google, startpage, whatever… All shit SEO results imho

I’m stupid. How do thet even produce the keys?

… and who doesn’t know that you can even install an OS to begin with!

That should also be free software, which Adobe products aren’t
Don’t forget stallman! (Yes I know about the scandals but dude did contribute essential software and ideas of libre to the foss community).
