My Hispanic in-laws had to go to the states to take care of some elderly family, and they said the Spanish translations of what he’s saying make him sound much smarter than what he’s actually saying in English. Like they change the words, use proper grammar and the tone of voice doesn’t come through the translator.

Not saying this is an excuse in any way, but I thought that was interesting.

There’s millions of young people who are just starting to pay attention. We continue to point out the hipocrasy for them. Lest their only point of reference come from the conservatives.

Yeah that was my source as well. But there’s some CCTV footage that appears to show the plane moving upside down much faster than taxiing speed, so seems like it was just a rumour.

This is completely unverified, but I heard it happened while the plane was taxiing. Just a freakishly strong crosswind picking up a light plane.

Because like it or not, actually paying for stuff is the only way to save journalism and by extension our democracies.

The alternative is to link shitty clickbait / AI spam. At least this way:

1. People might be encouraged to pay for journalism.
2. There are many ways to bypass the paywall for those who won’t or can’t pay.

As a non American, maybe someone can help clarify something.

My understanding is that executive orders only apply to federal agencies. So does this just mean that cafeterias in federal office buildings will need to use plastic straws? And restaurants / stores are completely unaffected by this?

I always thought kernel devs were smart people. I’m kind of shocked learning a new language is this big of a barrier to them.

The reality is that most of the time it’s the complete opposite. The white candidate gets chosen even though the black candidate is more qualified.

Combating this is why DEI exists in the first place. It’s also why the magats hate it. To acknowledge that DEI is necessary is to acknowledge the racism inherent in their hiring processes.
