Exactly. The findings were correct, the sentence was correct, but the reasoning for the sentence was very problematic. A proper reasoning needs to be found that will survive supreme court appeal and provide precedent for any future similar behavior.

The big thing (and what Trump & co count on) is that — yes, it’s been years since the allegations went public. Everyone knows about the allegations and is tired of them as nothing was done at the time, and so much has happened since.

But NOW, the evidence is all validated, so there can be legal consequences, if people still care. Thing is, people don’t care anymore, because other allegations are considered more important to address now. And the legal system isn’t set up to deal with such a high volume of investigations and cases (and Trump has done his utmost to make this situation even worse).
