There’s pixelfed for an Instagram alternative, which is based on the activitypub protocol. If flashes is built on bluesky I don’t think it will make much of a difference if the protocol is controlled by a company.

Somebody should probably archive the book drm free, in case it gets taken down from digital stores. No ill intent towards the author, I mean it just in case it gets removed.
Nah I’m more into the main distros, they tend to have better support. Debian, Fedora are my main OSs, with Debian being what I use with old hardware that I still want to use on a daily basis, and Fedora for anything that’s new and might require a more up to date kernel.
Xfce and Debian is the best combination. Stable, lightweight. Overall pretty good.
there is a small contingent of .world liberals who I’m sure will take this opportunity to bash anyone to their left.
They are very active though, and they don’t lose their chance to mention and antagonize .ml, which I think is kind of shitty. It happens even in threads where people are commenting about stuff unrelated to politics. lemmy.world is constantly looking for targets to defederate from.
edit: I’d like to mention that I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m just giving my perspective on it.
There’s the Pixelfed app, Pixelix and PixelDroid. Of the three I’d say the most functional is PixelDroid, but the interface isn’t as good as the others. Pixelix feels faster than Pixelfed but in my phone it has an issue with JSON saying I’m unauthenticated.
The Pixelfed app works, but it’s a bit slow, and doesn’t have as much functionality as PixelDroid. PixelDroid lets you easily see all feeds (feeds for people you follow, local and global feeds), which Pixelfed somehow doesn’t let you access, which kinda destroys the point of using a federated social network.
