I think it’s Kwame Ture who said something like Marx didn’t invent dialectical materialism he discovered it/described it, just like Newton didn’t invent gravity.

They were like we wanted to swap the gender but we’re worried a strong Asian lady would be too Dragon Lady Stereotype. Like fuck off and cast Michelle Yeoh, she would have nailed it.

They also wanted to cut Wong, like WTF? Though ultimately making him a peer/equal instead of a servant was a great change.

I think because of the material position of the meat producers and the economy/state protectionism, lab grown meat would become a culture war issue in the global north (“I’m not eating the bugs” etc).

And the political capital necessary to make people eat “lab grown” meat instead of “natural meat” would probably be so extreme, like land reform and an actual cultural revolution, that at point why not just reduce the amount of meat consumed through plant based alternatives and non meat or reduced meat diets.

They’re like small minority of Christian proto anarchists (no priests no churches, occaisonal communes/intentional communities) who are extreme pacifists, but understand how imperialism, social murder and slavery is violence, constantly acting against it by non violent but radical means.

A bunch fled the UK to the USA to avoid religious persecution and them immediately got started to get themselves lynched for helping slaves escape and working with first Nations people.

That said Richard Nixon’s parents were Quakers and he was ostensibly one at some point, but he sort of drifted out of it in college before ever getting disowned (quaker excommunication). But he kept the ascetic aesthetic (Quakers don’t drink or smoke, wear fancy clothes etc)

I get what you mean but Quakers have been persecuted for pretty much always being on right side of history their whole existence.
