On the wrong platform if you want to suck up to cops and surveillance chief

Okie dokie boomer
I’d dabbled with Linux and multiple distros in the past and while I liked what I saw I had my frustrations. Various distros had their pros and cons and I wasn’t as technically capable back then.
After Windows 11’s unnecessary launch I gave Windows 10 LTSC a try. I don’t think it was LTSC specific but my experience was buggy as hell and would BSOD every other day. So I thought I’d force myself to use Linux and have used Arch or other flavors of Arch ever since. No sink or swim, I was just going to live with it and not deal with Microsoft’s bullshit anymore.

You should be who they hire for article subject lines.

Also use dust. Great for visualizing directory trees of where all the bigger files lie.
My experience too with Linux on phones so far. Really, really want freedom of choice and to be free from Android. It isn’t a real choice if I want a social life and a phone that isn’t a brick.
I’m an older zoomer but still a zoomer. Its a crazy dynamic seeing people my age and younger just not getting IT stuff. There’s a high ratio of older to younger people where I’ve worked in IT too.

I’ve set up the sync server but it is definitely a pain in the ass.

Lol, the cool thing is you don’t have to use flatpak. If there’s only a flatpak you could package it yourself. Flatpak has way more benefits than just being boiled down to GUI first…
I’m happy to call names if what I see literally falls under the definition of elitist.

Good, the cool thing is that distros for newbies or power users exist. They just want utilities making these actions more accessible. Being elitist serves no one in the long run.

I faced that for an extended time after graduating with a Bachelor’s. There were so many jobs asking for impossible experience, or jobs vaguely related to my field at exploitative pay that required a Bachelor’s. I did manage to find a decent job (still shit pay) but only because of a connection.
For my college, tuition would not be impossible with an ok job. When I read the headline I read it more as younger people seeing college as a scamthat can’t even get you a job after the ordeal of all the schoolwork and money lost.

Por que no los dos? They’d definitely use this capability to do both.

No. I’m not clueless or surprised. Just disappointed that we’re stooping to using AI bots to sow discord like Russia is doing.

Jesus, even before I read the article it read like the U.S wants to emulate disinformation campaigns others are using. The irony of three letter agencies condemning AI campaigns while the Pentagon is going “We want that”, is insane but its to be expected I guess.

I’d have left Twitch if I didn’t find it more entertaining than current YouTube. No one should be surprised they’re at pre-covid profit levels again because they tried to shovel way too many ads down people’s throats.
Imagine tuning into a random stream and getting greeted by 3 ads before you can understand if you want to stay or check a different one. I’ve been frustrated enough that I just turn to something else altogether for entertainment.
There are some decent adblockers like TTV.LOL, which is a simple proxy to a country that doesn’t allow ads. But sometimes those solutions don’t work either. Ironically I just use Turbo while not paying for YouTube premium, but just as people don’t pay for YouTube Premium, I understand not wanting to support Twitch for a variety of reasons.
I use Alpine Linux. It’s exceptionally stable, great for pretty much any device and is best for small VPS with limited space/ram. Nice package manager too, but it is limited in packages.
It works great for me since I only use docker containers, but some things outside docker may require something like Debian instead.
I use Arkane Linux, which is based on Arch but is immutable. Every update is a new install. You can easily configure custom images to deploy for your specific wants or needs. It’s nice for keeping up to date with Arch while keeping how my machine is configured declared in an image. You can always roll back if something was wrong with the image you deployed too.
If you’re running the most recent kernel, I’d recommend moving to linux-lts. I have slightly similar specs, KDE Wayland, 6900 xt and 5800, and I had issues with games straight up crashing out my PC on the latest kernel.
I hesitate to call the cops even for traditionally appropriate situations when someone like you who probably loves ICE too would love to call them.
I don’t understand the cult around U.S. cops because its luck of the draw if you get an asshat abuser like my SO’s previous step father or a cop that can actually de-escalate a situation, vs cops doing some semblance of something correct overseas.
But keep sucking people off that are drawn to abuse of power.
