4 months agoThe USA and UK are both Five Eyes members and routinely share intelligence. If the USA had compromised secure apps, wouldn’t the UK be privy to intelligence gathered via that method?

You have a point; some EVs like the Leaf don’t even have conditioning. The Volt does have active conditioning, and being a PHEV instead of a BEV has battery charge and discharge limits which were limited by the factory to preserve longevity at the expense of being able to charge to a true 100%. If extra range is needed the ICE is activated instead of stressing the traction battery.
It was a mystery from the perspective of the Sri Lankan rescuers, who didn’t realise at the time the exact nature of the Iranian ship’s fate. They knew it had been sunk, but not how. Later, the periscope footage would be released, illuminating the exact cause of the harm suffered by the Iranian sailors.
