I think they wanted “sovereign”

I think they wanted “sovereign”

Weird how every time the region tries to be more autonomous they’re violently opposed by right-wing authoritarians and that has short-term impacts on morale.

“I thought that hairy, man-sized biped was a deer” is a lot less compelling as a legal defense.

(Context for people not in the PNW, Mox Boarding House is a board game and card shop with an attached restaurant.)

When you have the space for it sure, but urinal stalls seem like an exorbitant luxury 99% of the time I need to pee. I’m fine with a wall-to-wall stainless steel trough.

When my college moved to gender-neutral bathrooms they took every urinal out. It was a 60% loss in places to pee. Gender aside, it was a stupid decision.

Washington has a law against hunting Bigfoot (but this is to keep people from shooting other people “accidentally” who may or may not be dressed as Bigfoot)

They could be more based and let Catalonia go.

Lots of people experience crushing poverty without turning into murderers.

A non-zero amount think they are going to kick-start Judgment Day.

There was a while when the US was on top, revolutionizing automotive manufacturing. Ford’s Model T and later Model A sold like crazy.

Damn near the entire internet is “social media” but people usually mean “social networking sites”.

By the standards of US presidents it wasn’t even that bad. More White Man’s Burden than bounties for scalps.

Companies definitely should not be allowed to own companies.

Oh I’m very much aware of the entire coin. Police overreach, judges willing to turn a blind eye, Defense Attorneys more interested in looking out for themselves than serving the public, we’ve got a whole pile of shit before you even get to the jails-as-punishment and slavery-for-profit problems.
In Finland no-one wants to recognise our university-educated police can have anything wrong with them, especially on a systemic level.
This is getting tangential, but this point is pretty frustrating as an American. We hear about how racist our country is and how Europe doesn’t have these problems but it seems like we’re the only ones even trying to see the bigotry and classism inherent in the system, much less do something about it.
I’m sorry your own experience was so bad but I’m not surprised.

No, “felony murder” is not a good thing in our legal system.

Police don’t need consent if they have reason to believe a violent crime is happening, and even from an ACAB perspective it would be wild to make community-protectors wait at the door in this situation. Everything after that point is an abject failure.

What, and lose an opportunity to funnel tax money to private interests?

Anyone who listened to rock radio in the year 2000 would recognize it. Hit Billboard’s top 10, 41 and 32 in the UK and Scotland, it even did decently in Germany peaking at 84 per GfK. None of this is to say that it’s particularly good but it damn well was popular. (And looking this up I am reminded that the second hit on that album was “Cowboy” which also did numbers in the US and Europe)
You have to get kinda close for spell-check to step in and it’s really bad at fixing problems at the beginning of a word.
