Chinese version of YouTube (bilibili (B站)) has built in sleep timer functionality.
That beats the hell out of the adverts and autoplay rubbish YouTube subjects people not using Invidious or Piped to.

Oh, I figured they counted as a huge loss of civil liberties.

US gained the rights to legally murder its own citizens without due process under Obama.
Also loads of giving corporations and capital rights, and rolling back protective anti-investment gambling under Democrat administrations, which ate up the rights of non-capital.

He had one, but he fired her and looks to be too stubborn and sure of his own competence to hire another one (or maybe too proud to admit that she was right and useful after firing her for petty reasons).

Mainland PRC has no entries after 2016 for the UN site.
The London Prison studies one has an estimate for 2018, and says based off of UN data.
On 百度 I get mixed figures, from 3900 and another states At least 700 a year, but I also think it’s talking more globally.
Doesn’t seem to be public government statistics, like the UK or EU gov data sites, which would be nice to check things out and show to the rabid anti-China folks.

That’s the UN data for Hong Kong, but it was easy enough to find the page for the PRC, excluding Hong Kong and Macao. The figures still line up well enough (noting, as the other page does that it exclude statistics about people interred in the “vocational training schools”), although the UN doesn’t have figures post 2016.
UN page doesn’t seem to have execution rates either, which would also impact incarceration rates.
Not to say that the US isn’t atrocious and also terrible on all those metrics, and plumbing new lows with each successive presidency. I was just kinda hoping for some more official PRC reported figures.

I’ve been looking for Chinese prison-crime-etc. data. Do you have a link?
It being in Mandarin isn’t a problem.

Make it a question with a third ma.
So “ma ma ma?” (妈麻吗?)

Which particular set of Israeli policies are you supporting here?
The 10-15 civilian deaths per strike on a possible low level Hamas supporter?
The continued “accidental” killing of medical staff, including Red Cross and Red Crescent workers, and journalists?
The idea of turning off water and electricity from all of Gaza as a valid response?
The escalation of illegal settlement and theft of Palestinian property and land in the West Bank, with IDF support no less?
Or the use of the Hannibal Protocol against Israeli Civilians on October 8th by IDF forces?
Or do you just not think it is incumbent on the one with greater power and strength to offer the olive branch first if peace is truly desires? And in fact would rather the Palestinian people are smeared across an enlarged Israel?

I didn’t like the first series, and would’ve quit it at episode 3 or so but I ended up without internet access for a couple of days and the whole series downloaded… It got better.
But yeah, life’s too short for TV shows that take time to be taken on faith. And if you did finish the first series and still not like it, more power to you.

Enjoyed it.
Well made RTD fare. Him, doing what he does.
Comes off a bit preachy and on-the-nose at times, and could have done with exploring things a bit more in places but it’s only 6 episodes and got to be fairly militant on right on so won’t argue with it too much.

The French are, understandibly, less willing to overlook Nazism than anglophones.
Then again, no one should be overlooking Nazism.

Because they fired the guy whose job it was to tell the press who got fired. So there is no longer an official record.

That user is saying it in a more conspiracy sounding way, but isn’t factually wrong as long as you replace “given” with “sold”.
The publicly built and operated Internet infrastructure was cut up and sold off in 94 by Clinton to telephone companies at very friendly rates.
Governments send money to their fellow top people, by accident if not design.

The person you’re replying to may be much further to the left than you give them credit for.
The lesser of two evils is still evil and deserves to be called such. The US is not a benevolent nation.

I mean, all the Chengdu '89 mums get rounded up at the end of May each year still.
You can’t even talk about the Cultural Revolution these days.
Even stating the fact that the RoC still exists will get your WeChat account closed.
I’m not sure what you think PRC censorship is like.

It would be amazing.
Fan edit, spoofs, redubs, fan commentary tracks, watch alongs.
It could be a cultural renaissance.

I’m fairly sure that at this point pirating has been shown to lead to increased sales, even of small scale productions.
Also, no one said that people can’t keep the rights for a while, just that if you don’t let people access those things you don’t get to prosecute them for making the art available.
As someone who uses a Xiaomi phone, that’s not true.
It was a faff getting it to install any random apk I found of off the Internet, but it was possible. Did involve holding down a graphic for 10 seconds as part of the unlock procedure.
But for now at least, you can still install any unsigned apk without going through a store.
