If we don’t believe in the rule of law at all then we are truly lost. Attitudes like the one you described above are getting us nowhere.

They are also going to appeal. And even if that doesn’t go their way, even if it sets precedent, even if other people bring suits against them…this is peanuts for them. Are they going to stop being predatory of their own volition? No. We need actual legislation and regulations. Not internet id bullshit either.

Check out Benn Jordan and Louis Rossman on YT as they are two people spearheading this from a social standpoint. Louis specifically regularly provides links to contacting your legislators about it, including things to say to them. It’s faster and easier than you’d think to do.

There’s a lot here. I agree it’s not just as simple as cleaning a pot. A service tech is really the best way to get this done correctly. That’s not a cheap fix either depending on all the issues. You can at least find out what it would take to get it to working order though.

Unfortunately this is likely the idea. Keep them open, let the services at these parks become a “bad experience” for visitors, and change the public opinion on them from “we need these parks” to “sell them to corpos for pennies on the dollar”.
Nothing about your original comment reads as anything but defending that practice. Everything you said is factual, and it all sounds like defense. I appreciate that you laid out all the information that you did, but it reads like you’re saying “just playing devil’s advocate” when you’re just trying to spin a narrative that this is ok when that isn’t reality.

I’ve heard of this book. It’s on a long list of things to read for me. I feel like I have to have this same conversation every time there’s a protest somewhere in the world where property gets damaged. That tired line of “I don’t understand why these people destroy their own city.” as if any of us own anything involved. It’s such an annoying thing that we are brainwashed to think this way. Like yeah, it’s my city, but if want to plant flowers in it, i can’t. If i want to plant crops in it, I can’t. If I want to decorate it, I can’t. If I want to have say in how it’s used and developed, I mostly can’t. So who’s is it again?
Came here to say this. I guess it could be considered violent because someone COULD get hurt…but I also feel like calling it violent to start is misleading and disappointing.

I don’t disagree with that at all. In fact as a population I think we need to police ourselves. We should take stronger action towards those in power, as we are the much larger power. I’m just tired of the defeatist attitude. Someone has to enforce the actual rules.
