As someone who electrically renovated houses without beeing an electrician. If you find an electrician who is willing to work with you: do a full planning of the house. (What lines go where etc) ask them to go over this, and pay them for their time. If all goes well this will cost them an evening or three (depending how many flaws they find in your design). Do the wiring and drilling raw sockets yourself. Buy the top sockets wholesale, then have the electrician make a fixed price for installing sockets and wiring your fuse box , it will be much cheaper.
I think what’s missing is the author of pulseaudio and systemd among other “modern” Linux tech (I.e. adopted by many popular distros) is a Microsoft employee.

I’m also currently almost exclusively on Linux. My Spouse has a Fedora powered Notebook with a super fast 8/16 core amd processor and loves it dearly. (Cannot remember the maker, but since the BIOS/setup was huge PITA I wont be buying from them again.) I used to love the simplicity and light-weighted -ness of apples setup, but over the years Linux systems made it far easier to use them as a “digital hub”. Turns out I did not enjoy selling my soul to Satan (Oracle Virtualbox) or pay an extra 100 bucks per year (Corel Parallels) just so I could use a few windows only tools I had.

I feel you. I still use an intel macbook with tweaks i cannot remember plus 3rd party utils like Turbo Boost switcher. That experience alone has kept me from upgrading to newer models.
In retrospect my powerbook g4 (Ti) and os 9 was peak computing.

I once borked my windows install because I left the designated (not yet installed) Linux drive plugged in - then windows decided for some God forsaken reason to install the bootloader on the Linux disk. Had to copy the bootloader from install disk like someone else in this thread already typed out.
Another thing is how most of media talks about his wife and kids, failing to mention the wife was estranged and they already were separated. The kids are adults too, so the Picture they paint is highly misleading. The reason seems. … manipulative.
