I use this too on android. Works great for streaming, but you can’t download tracks to listen offline afaik.

If your job is causing you enough mental anguish to go through with suicide, it’s reasonable to suggest you find another. That goes for any job.

I don’t disagree. But I gotta say, I didn’t realize how much I needed to feel the slight glimmer of hope after seeing the turnout at my local protest in person. I live in a pretty small rural town, granted it’s on the northern California coast, and we have a pretty even spread of old school hippies, conservative ranchers, and libertarian cannabis farmers. Today, it felt like the crowd size exceeded everyone’s expectations by far, not to mention almost all folks passing by were supportive. It felt emboldening, like there could truly be some power building here.
I don’t really have high hopes things can be resolved peacefully, tbh. In fact, I watched some MAGAt today stop his truck in the middle of the protest, get out to assault some good folks, and proceed to get his ass kicked to a reasonable extent before driving away. I’m a usually pessimist, sometimes a doomer, and often not wrong. But I think now’s the time to shelve the cynicism and encourage as many people as possible to turn out. The maga horde, the excruciatingly loud minority, need the dose of reality that their opposition is real, gaining momentum, and pissed.

Does it really matter if he’s deliberately advancing a fascist agenda?

Got it, thanks! I’m sure there are some cases where it makes sense to use this feature, but I find it gross if this is the common/intended use.

That’s fucked. Of course this asshole on his high horse is a hypocritical coward.
I’m admittedly ignorant how these platforms work, as I’ve gone out of my way to avoid them. How is it possible for the sheriff’s office to filter/delete comments made by other users? Is that something anyone can do for any comments made on your own posts?
Also, if these accounts are managed by a government office, can the hidden/deleted comments be retrieved through a public records request? (Assuming they comply with such request, though I wouldn’t hold my breath…)

For the most part, but definitely not everyone. Many people lack awareness about where food comes from in general, not to mention basic food safety practices. It wouldn’t surprise me if folks who mostly buy prepackaged produce and know little about farming would assume their produce is clean enough from the store.

This is not entirely true. E. coli can produce heat-stable enterotoxins that will still make you sick even after cooking/killing the microbe. Probably best to toss or at least wash them before using.
Edit: assuming they’re from one of the listed brands and match the recall window.

I agree with Chapo. Maybe you can teach these things in addition to what your kid learns at school? Might be a fun way to spend time together anyway.

Abbreviations are usually read the same way the word they’re replacing are spoken. So, you’re right! Nobody’s saying “Calif.”

Yes, sugar is needed to survive, but a normal diet with little processed foods will supply more than enough. OP is talking about added sugars which are known to increase risk of heart disease, diabetes, liver disease, etc.
I agree that the comparison is dumb. Regardless, I think a better way to frame your previous statement is nicotine is a known carcinogen while glucose itself is not. Thanks for the snark lol not everything is confrontational. Ease up on your quills, hedgehog.

Exactly what someone with a sugar addiction would say lol

The human body also doesn’t need added sugars to survive.

For real. The regulations are the “reasonable” standards. If you can’t meet the bare minimum you can fuck off.

Dude could foot the bill to end world hunger. Doubt either would happen anytime soon. The last charitable thing I can remember him doing was offering that dumbass submarine in the Thai cave rescue before calling the actual rescuer a pedo.

Posting and closing beaches is pretty standard in California in response to sewage spills and water quality sampling yielding substandard results, though it’s usually enforced by local health departments instead of the state.
One issue is the public can get fatigued and disregard the warnings if popular beaches are closed on an ongoing basis, but at least they’re generally informed of the risks. Heal The Bay puts out a pretty good annual report card summarizing results for many beaches across the state if you’re interested in reading more.
News orgs, and frankly many public institutions, seem to be lliability averse to a fault. My guess is journalists have generally been instructed to use passive language to avoid libel lawsuits due to the expense of settlement or counsel fees.
Passive language has become so common in journalism these days, and the far right terrorist cohort realizes the vocal minority bad faith pearl clutching schtick works well enough that they continue to threaten litigation against objective truth regularly. It’s Trump’s MO, and I assume it works because those being sued are terrified his base will be out for blood if he doesn’t get his way.
The more the news orgs settle and normalize this shit, the more inertia there is to get back to reality. It’s maddening, tbh.
