“AI” has it’s uses (medicine, engineering, etc.), but 99.99% of the snake oil they’re selling are just gimmicky cash grabs. Classic cases of Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

It’s probably just personal preference and the door lock issue is probably a security precaution. One of the big ways people are breaking into or stealing modern cars that use “smart” keys is with a mirroring attack. They use a long-ish antenna (1m or so) to pickup the FOB inside your house, then mirror the signal to the car with a phone/tablet. Once they’re in your car, things get even worse. Honda’s for example used to store their security codes in the OBD computer (I don’t know if this is still true). Meaning thieves could plug in a technician OBD tool (they’re like $1,000 on Amazon), then program a brand-new virgin key for your car, right there in your driveway, hit the start button and drive off. All in under 30-seconds. The non-smart keyed cars were even worse, since the alarm doesn’t go off if you pick the lock (no joke lol)

It’s the marketing hypertrain in action. The only real advantages Tesla ever had were their motors (the one designed by the 2 real Tesla founders) and their deal with Panasonic, which allowed them to manufacture batteries in house, bringing down the cost. The car itself was just a plastic shell for the two.

That time has now come and gone. All the other auto companies make competing, if not better motors, and all the other battery companies are also making “tabless” batteries. BMW is even rocking true solid-state batteries in some of their newer cars.

Oh, and the dumpster fire that they call “self-driving”. Can’t forget about that.

That’s true, ICE & Co. are also all over Mexico right now because of the cartels. The whole border lock down and immigrant round-up thing is only half of their current force. And one of the big things they’ve been doing down there is monitoring/tapping their communication networks.

So yeah, never mind, probably not a good idea. If it was just for torrenting or something it’s probably fine, but beyond that I wouldn’t push it.

I’m honestly hoping for a repeat. Hopefully Microsoft goes down this time too, since they’re heavily into AI. Twitter, Meta, Google and Amazon too. It’s really just the worst of the worst.

It’s more about the latency since it’s right over the border (<30ms). It’s also a full 10Gbps so I can let family/friends use it and don’t have to worry if a few of them are pulling the full 1Gbps from home connection. Doubt I’m gonna be able to match both of those with a Chinese VPS :/

You’re thinking of FreeDUMB, where you’re allowed to believe whatever you want. But Trump has to approve the position first (as stated) and it has to be the opposite of whatever the data/proof clearly shows. It’s like the Wish.com version of Freedom_TM, but that’s geared more toward Teaparty Gun Nuts and Libertarian Potheads.

Edit: Huge caveat I forgot about. Joe Rogan also has the ability to dictate FreeDUMB positions. So long as the guest making the claim (1) has no degrees and (2) they’re being suppressed by The Establishment. Also, Jamie has to be able to Google some random website that agrees with them in under 25 seconds.

Oh it’s abused alright. They’re called pretextual stops and they’re basically used to skirt your rights of unreasonable search and seizure.

Despite the fact that SOCTUS has ruled that traffic stops are NOT grounds for further criminal investigations.

They also say they pulled him over for not wearing his seat-belt, but I don’t see how they could have possibly known that until they had already pulled him over.

This has been a thing forever here. It’s common(-ish) knowledge to leave your seatbealt on until the cop approaches you. Otherwise they’re allowed to assume that you also weren’t wearing it before the stop and write you a ticket. It’s dumb.

Which sucks for guys, since we usually carry our wallets in our back pocket. So our first instinct is to take off the belt, take out our wallet and have everything ready for the cop when they walk up. Which is a $100 mistake you only make once (hopefully).

This whole thing is a shit show. From the cops lying on the report about him reaching for a knife, which the cellphone video shows clearly didn’t happen, to the State Attorney writing it off and the Sheriff going full DARVO during the press conference.

Notes:

1. The sheriff was in church when the story broke, so it inconvenienced him during his Good Boy time.
2. The victim should have filed a complaint so the Sheriff’s Office could do things The Right Way (aka. get ahead of the story).
3. The unannounced public release of the cellphone video was intended to hurt the Sheriff’s Office reputation (no shit). Implying they’re the real victims here.

It’s encryption has been broken for some time now, which leaves it vulnerable to some pretty serious security issues. On top of the obvious issue of people with the right know-how just listening to your calls and reading your texts, which you probably don’t want.

(It’s also how most cops/feds tap phones these days.)
