I tried but failed, people are so reliant on it that I couldn’t interest people enough and gradually even some people who moved over, drifted back.

Happy that worked for you but doing so would have cut a huge social part of my life away, its more than just 1:1 messaging stuff.

They can but that instantly excludes me from casual day to day things like my family group chat or more spur of the moment messaging - plans here heavily favour data these days over texts - honestly the only texts i get these days are automated services. I just have no desire to be so isolated from friends and family

Without whatsapp I would essentially be losing contact with my family and a ton of friends and colleagues. And some businesses even use it. Do I want to, no. Have I got some people on signal, yes. But there simply isnt a way for me to cut it out of my life unfortunately.

At least with kindle books bought from amazon you have to use their own software to transfer. They stopped the old app working which could download books to your computer so now they just have to check if the kindle it is connecting to is attached to your account and on a software version they support.

I love revanced so much…

My point was more that harmful chemicals in the sense of chromium salts etc. aren’t present in veg tan which, for the most part, is boiling it in a load of tree bark.

I do hobby-level leatherworking and I’m all here for real non-animal leathers but yeah, basically all of them, cactus, mango, pineapple leaf etc. all just get put on a PU backing…
I got excited for cork leather at one point but turns out that is also either PU backed or fabric backed (which is better but doesn’t really work as a direct replacement for leather, especially structurally).
There are a few I’m more excited for and I would love to get hold of but they still seem either experimental or used directly by the makers for their own finished products. Most are fungus based, so one is SCOBY leather, basically the big blob of microorganisms used to make kombucha can be grown in big flat sheets, dried and treated to make a leathery material but I’ve not seen many applications of it yet…
But mushroom/mycelial leather is the one I’m most hopeful for. Not only do some of them look like real leather but the random ‘grain’ of the mycelium has the potential to ape the natural fibrous grain of leather that gives it its strength. That is the one I’m really excited for.

And veg tan? I try not to use chrome tan in stuff I make for both environmental reasons and the fact its a pain to work with but we have been veg tanning for thousands of years.

I still use my iPod mini plugged into a music centre of the same vintage. I don’t update it though, its lovely having my 2004-5 music capsule.

We had a copy of indy 500 on our 3.1 PC that barely ran and made oh such lovely noises via the PC speaker but to play you had to answer trivia questions that were in the manual.

Probably half life 2

Paracetamol also causes left handed-ness

We still use it in our stuff, I guess its easier for the corporate world to hire DBAs with official qualifications and have the option of oracle support when something goes tits up.

Depends on the phone. I hated the one on my oneplus 3 so i needed nova but the one on my current phone has the basic customisation options i was using nova for.

Ive started using Microsoft todo so it combines with this approach

Im not American so I probably didn’t see a lot of this but my lasting impression was a lot of blustering and shit slinging but no real action or substance. Like everything he tried or promised either didn’t get done or was half arsed. Basically i saw it as incompetence and damage through inaction rather than the malicious active damage he is doing now.
Not sure where it came from but you can see it here under S - https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Glossary_of_British_military_slang_and_expressions#S
As for other words, I don’t think we do quite so many as the Aussies but there are words like aggro, cheapo, wino, preggo used in every day speech.
Most people don’t. There is a theory (and I don’t know if it was ever verified officially) that Adobe stuff was made so easy to pirate and crack intentionally. That way students and people learning how to use their tools (primarily photoshop) would master it and therefore force any employer they later worked with to get and stay with Adobe and their expensive enterprise licences. The lower the barrier of entry the more people in the workforce could be competent with it.
