  • I think, in the long run, Kirk’s legacy will be his assassination and it’s contribution to the season of assassination now unfolding. (The two failed Trump assassinations, the UnitedHealth assassination, and now Kirk).

Beyond that, he was an agitator and a grifter. I have the same empathy towards him and the people around him as he had towards school shooting survivors, Palestinians, and etc. It’s what he would have wanted.

  • Little of A, little of B. For the most part I’m allowed on Reddit and still even use it occasionally (gasp!), but occasionally I run into a sub I’m banned from without any reason given. I must have engaged in wrongthink or posted in a no-no sub or something, because often they’re subs where I have little to no activity in the first place. Unfortunately, there’s no way to get a list of all the subs you’re banned from, so I don’t know if it’s just a few wackos or an actually significant chunk of the sight.

  • Bullshit. Nobody, or at least very few people, expected Reddit to revert the changes. A protest can be successful even if it doesn’t lead to immediate change. I was here on Lemmy long before the API nonsense happened over at Reddit, and the difference over here is night and day. Lemmy has been around for awhile, but until these last few months it couldn’t hold a candle to Reddit in terms of content or activity. Maybe it still can’t, but now it has enough users to be viable. Reddit might go on like nothing happened, but in the background a competitor has been born.
