From what I have seen, nothing from the cracked version, it should be an improvement upon FH5.

A way more interesting map, Mexico kinda sucked, but the rally map was great and Japan seems to be a much needed improvement.

Progression has returned to the campaign, and you have more to work towards. You aren’t the superstar of the festival this time.

The other improvements that I am exited for are the open world drag races and time attack tracks. As well as the Spec races, and removal of a bunch of FOMO from the seasonal playlists

EAs WRC is unsupported, this isn’t a deal breaker by itself but is a contributing factor. AC Rally isn’t in a place to challenge it for now, but should get there eventually. I could also play more dirt rally 2.0 as well

Le Mans Ultimate, the performance for me is unacceptable. Jumping from 30 to 140fps and makes me feel motion sick because of that. It is my main racing sim, and dealing with that for long endurance races is impossible. Yes I had the LMU fork of proton, it is the only way to get into races. But the LMU Devs are not exactly Linux friendly and aren’t trying to help out.

And that’s about it for games that don’t work for me. If LMU worked as well or close to on Linux as it does on windows I would switch. But it is such a huge portion of my pc use I am having to use windows for now

Along with bazzite and cachyos, I will throw in Nobara which is fedora but gaming focused and supported by glorious egg roll.

Has been the distro I have had the most success with, even if I have had to go back to windows because of certain sim racing stuff being a bit rubbish on Linux(for now)

I already used that(specifically this version), it is the only way to get the game to actually load.

Not op but last time I tried (recently around 2 weeks ago), the performance in Le Mans Ultimate was terrible. And I couldn’t get Crew Chief to work with it.

I got my sum racing stuff working(not the rev lights on the wheel though), got the game running, but performance was 30-90 FPS and jumping all over the place. In comparison to windows with the similar settings, that runs 100-160fps even though it’s with a larger number of visible cars(62 instead of the 30 I had on Linux).

I had Nobara installed, 5700x3D with a Nvidia 4080, I really wish I could switch but currently I would give up too much, Le Mans Ultimate and EAs WRC are currently large portions of my hobbies, and WRC has anti cheat that doesn’t work.

There are certainly options, but they are older or just not fully fleshed out for sim racing, Hardware has gotten pretty well supported now. And games like Le Mans Ultimate had their on proton fork to get it working. But If you want big races you are very limited software wise, you kinda only really have iRacing or LMU. And They both devs have been unsupportive of linux, although LMU does still currently work.

In terms of sims that do work, Automobilista 2, Raceroom, Assetto Corsa, AC Rally, AC Evo, AC Competizione, BeamNG.Drive, Dirt Rally 2.0 and i think Live for Speed.

There are options that are fun, but AC Evo is rough, AC Rally is great but you can tell it is Early Access. And honestly nothing on that list ticks the same boxes as iRacing or LMU for racing.

Outside of that though, I could absolutely switch away from windows. Nothing else I play or am looking forward to getting to play will have issues running

Not the original commenter, but my current ones are, EAs WRC it doesn’t work on Linux and the clubs feature is used by a couple of communities and is a great way to have current rallies.

Raceroom is not great on Linux, very crashy. But it can work at least.

I am also deep into Le Mans Ultimate, which just added EAC, and Devs have said they will not support linux. Currently it still works, but I am expecting that to end sometime soon.

For my hobby there isn’t really alternatives, iRacing doesn’t work, AC Rally is just too early and doesn’t have anything outside of leaderboards (and that doesn’t even have friend filtering). In terms of Sim racing there isn’t much that works really well on Linux and can’t exactly get the same experience in other games, like a 24hr race with driver swaps, ranked racing with multi class.

I have a cycling computer, which offers GPS turn by turn, and pairs to power meters, heart rate and radar light. It is mounted on the handlebars in an easy to view place.

I have bone conducting headphones for music.

All of this is significantly less than $1000, and if something breaks, I can replace it all individually. I also don’t have to wear ridiculous looking sunglasses to listen to my bone conducting headphones.

I really wish sim racing worked well on Linux. The other stuff I need windows for I can work around or compromise. But the sim rig is just too damn windows dependant

When I was looking at replacing my phone, I was considering an iPhone. But the major thing that stopped me was the lightning port.

The other major thing now is Firefox. It is simply better on android than iOS. It is by far the most used app on my phone, and not being able to use the extensions I do on android is a significantly worse experience.

I also really like my current phone, it has a marvelous bit of technology called a 3.5mm headphone jack and is amazing.
