For sure there are still problems with it. But IMO the benefits of such an organization would outweigh any of the drawbacks.
A ton of countries wouldn’t go through the effort to block it, it would help those in impoverished areas to connect, etc.
And for those in places that would actively try to stop such a connection, people wouldn’t be trying to connect if they didn’t find it worth the risk. I heard about the starlink/iran one as well.
The best way to do this would be to have an international organization operating something like starlink, but not operated by a nazi, and instead provided for free for everyone.
Unless places like North Korea and Iran start blasting hundreds of satellites out of the sky, there is far less that any country could do to prevent people from making transceivers at home.
The problem is that no such international organization would ever be funded and independent.

Nope. Raw epub to reader and it doesn’t handle it.
I’ve tried that in the past, but it doesn’t seem to care how the epub is put on it, it always displays epubs horribly
I really don’t care. I’ve tried several different ways to get it to cooperate with epubs, and at a certain point it isn’t worth it when I already have a viable solution.

My reader formats epubs really terribly, the text is almost always way too small, and requires some grotesque horizontal scrolling for most books.
On the other hand .txt just works, and handles resizing just fine
I’ve been using raw text files for my books, sent locally over USB, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay until my reader craps out

I think I can explain it.
CAD tools are focused on parametric design, meaning you have parameters that effect how the model is shaped.
It’s very useful for creating a product. Let’s say you made an object 10mm too short, and a whole bunch of other features are based on that measurement. If you update it to add 10mm, if you’re using the tool correct, those features built on top will adjust and accept the change.
If you do that in a tool like blender, any feature based off of that incorrect measurement will have to be painstakingly updated one at a time.
So it’s basically a question of “does your design have/need dependancies?”
My mind was on the more practical idea of intervening on the ground.
But basically no-one, since it’s largely based on international law which is toothless.
