Wait the Democrats respond to public shaming? At this point I thought they got off on it. He was doing his job but, he was kissing fascist ass just like Google, Microsoft, and Apple have not lobbying for privacy.

I think Coslop rolls off the tongue better

People are nuanced, billionaires aren’t just people, they’re a distillate of oppression. The amount of wealth and power people like Gates have is perverse, obscene, and unsustainable. With power comes responsibility, if that responsibility feels unfair, give up the power, he could decide to drop everything and feed the hungry.
Lemmy is dogmatic yes, and sometimes that’s really fucking annoying but billionaires aren’t people like you and me, they are disgustingly greedy to the point it is abusive to not just individuals but millions of people.

Damn, you connected to the internet via a phone line? because you’re spitting straight fax.

Why would you need a bailout if you’re losing? Seems like it would be better to copy China and nurture successful industry growth instead of constantly bailing out the failures.

This’ll probably get said a lot around here but the US isn’t a democracy and hasn’t really been one in the past. For instance; the US public overwhelmingly support universal healthcare but it never goes anywhere in the actual government.
We’re just witnessing an oligarchy transition into outright fascism because the US is failing.

I don’t even think it “kinda is” I think it fully is. Trans rights are currently against tradition and the status quo, this makes trans rights a progressive topic until the day that trans people are so established in the history of a society that it can’t be argued being trans is some new disorder or something.
I hope that one day Trans rights will have been so established globally that to challenge them is anti tradition and uncouth

Dude I wish it were this easy but how you just explained they educated us as an infant, they still see me as an infant. There isn’t a thing I can say to make them question their billions of dollars of propaganda because I am simply younger.

What do you mean? Trump said drug prices are down 1500% /s obviosuly

It’s expected of Disney, been supporting fascists since the start.

Um, those same people called Obama… fucking Obama a fascist and a communist. Talking about MAGA as if they’re coherent is intellectually dishonest. Some of the memes on the shells are about as old as the shooter and only actively cycled in alt right groups.
A MAGA would be highly likely to use the term “fascist” especially if they’re a groyper. They have a history of calling Kirk a fascist and rivaling with TPUSA’s events on college campuses for a while now.

Capitalist myth similar to how monarchs are chosen by gods. I swear, Americans are so propagandized to that they would chuck disabled people into volcanoes if the Koch brothers told them Jesus wanted them to.

I think all jobs that are able to be replaced by robots should be replaced, the dystopian factor is how capitalism deprives people of the ability to exist in doing so.
I’m still not sure what you’re trying to say here. I have agreed with everything you have said, you’re just really annoying about having to self insert yourself into a comment thread like you have to be the center of attention. Tell me, what happens if people under 50 now can never pull from social security for retirement? They will also face 3-6 months before homelessness and death. You immediately made it about how it’s not a tax because you’re one of those who gets to use it as opposed to pay in and never claim.
I never once argued for the removal of SSDI, I only ever brought up how tens or hundreds of millions could face very harsh retirements. For the average American worker, social security is deducted from their pay and they might never see what you now rely on.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here. I didn’t forget and I’m not worried, I chose to not bring it up because it’s a shitty comment thread not a research paper. Generally, SSDI is not really worth bringing up on if it is taxes or not and I’d personally argue that tying someone’s ability to live disabled to their previous work is needlessly cruel.
TBH Ima put Social Security in the tax section too as I doubt people under 50 are gonna collect on it.

I’m not in academia, but I’m pretty sure research papers are usually part of the job for many professors, and they are paid for those jobs. Research students get stipends (money) to live off of while doing research and publishing their work. So, money is supporting those efforts as well, right?
You don’t get paid for your research papers being published, it’s required in may fields but it isn’t something you get paid for. Stipends are not money to live off, in most cases you barely get by. So no, money is not supporting those efforts, it’s literally corporations taking the labor of researchers and making money off it.
I’m not in support of having to pay for quality information being the way, but it is the way right now. There are people that refuse to pay for journalism, some saying because it restricts access to quality information to those that can’t afford it, but I posit boycotting paying for journalism is having a net negative effect on quality information getting into anyone’s hands, including those that don’t have the means to pay for it.
Who are you shadowboxing here? I’m simply agreeing that information SHOULD be free and you clearly agree.

That doesn’t really address their point, that’s simply a motte and bailey. Limiting access to information (knowledge/education) on a basis of payment is a hindrance of lower classes not upper classes. We especially see this with academic publishing and the people writing those papers aren’t even paid for it usually.
You shouldn’t have to pay for the journalist or the transmission, similarly to education it is best for a society (especially a democracy) if information is freely accessible regardless of one’s finances.
They’ve dragged the US government into 38 trillion dollars in dept dropping nearly a trillion dollars a year into the military industrial complex without an ability to pass an audit. Soon the largest expenditure in the US federal discretionary budget will be paying interest on on debts taken to feed that beast. But forgiving student loans and providing healthcare… we can’t afford that.
