The democratic party is a conservative (right-wing) party. On the spectrum of rightwing ideology, they believe that technocratic hierarchies are natural and good. In the tradition of Edmund Burke, they think that if the right PEOPLE are in charge, good things will follow; policy be damned.

They can get tax cuts with the right while really only sacrificing the comfort of the underclasses or tax increases and accountability with the left. It’s completely rational. It’s the ruling class best serving its interests. Nothing insane about it.
