I started tinkering thirteen years ago, good grief. I would install Linux on my old machine when I got a new one, and play around with it. I can’t remember all the distros, but most recently Mint for a while, then Bodhi, then Zorin - which I’ve also now installed on my PC.
I love how much choice there is - and how passionate people can be about their choices. It seems there’s a flavour for everyone.
I’m all for this innovation if it means commercial bee farmers use the supplement and it helps native bees compete for natural pollen. People get very sentimental about honeybees, but honestly even as a hobbyist with just a few colonies I feel like a “baddie”. There are 200+ species of bees in the UK, most living in tiny colonies. At the moment bumblebee queens are out foraging for pollen and nectar, enough so they can start laying (only the queens live through winter). In my hives the overwintered workers are also out foraging, thousands of them. Multiply that by the hundreds of hives in a commercial operation and you can see the issue.
I’ve found the opposite - using Linux on my PC has been a breeze. I expected drama connecting my phone and e-reader, but no. Plain sailing, everything just works. I’m so glad I jumped when I did, hearing some of the recent Windows nonsense.

Modern kilts tune down the Scottishness. It can basically be a skirt. A manly man’s skirt, with pockets.

No. For starters it was in Hindi, and it was 1983? The heroine was a journalist working at her father’s newspaper I think (singing, dancing). He’s murdered (singing, car chase, mayhem). She vows revenge (singing) against the gang, but then falls for the gang leader (singing, dancing, fireworks). Then it turned out the gang didn’t do the mixer, it was evil politicians. Then I fell asleep on the sofa.
Sinners, just recently - not bad quality, but stopped in the middle for an advert in Hindi (I assume).
I remember the first Bollywood movie I watched, back in the 80s. I was home from a late shift, and it was on TV. I started watching and was still watching like three hours later. Loads of singing and dancing, also an intricate plot that switched from thriller to family drama to romance to murder mystery to political intrigue and back to romance. With fireworks instead of kissing. It was fantastic.
It must be incredibly useful for blind people, but for everyone else it’s a pure wank.
I had an ear infection that had me lose my balance completely and start projectile vomiting anything in my stomach, including water. It was probably a good 36 hours before I was admitted to hospital; I was so dehydrated I was put on a drip. It turned out to be shingles, so no wonder the antibiotics didn’t work. I can’t remember how long I went without eating, maybe 48 hours? I was so ill I didn’t care.

I’m in the UK and have been torrenting for about that long too. I have had exactly one threatening email from my ISP, over a Hogwarts book from memory. I ignored it and exactly nothing happened. Somehow JK managed to survive, imagine that.
Too late for me. But thanks for telling me my computer wasn’t good enough for Win 11 and forcing me to install Linux. It was a breeze, and computing is fun again.
I read about Ruby Bridges when I was a child in NZ, it made a huge impression on me.
I’ve also just moved to Linux (my first computer ran on MS-DOS) and it was easy peasy. Moving my data over was taking a while, so I stepped out to brings the bins in. Slipped on ice and am now in hospital, recovering from surgery to a wrecked knee. Looks like I’ll have plenty of time to move the data when I get home.

I’m about to pull the plug on Windows because MS says I need to replace my PC to install Win 11. Nothing wrong with my PC at all, it runs fine. So I’ve flashed a usb stick, checked the Linux distro will run ok, backed up my data and am ready to go. Just have to get a day free of distraction…
I got my first PC in 1983 I think it was. Second-hand, running MS-DOS. I’ve done a lot of computing since then, at work as well as home, almost always Windows. I’ve had Linux on an ancient laptop for a few years, various distros. I like to tinker, so that aspect of Linux doesn’t put me off at all.
When I was working I would take a square plastic clip box with a selection of prepped veg in it, plus one of those square ramen blocks and seasoning. Add boiling water and five minutes later you have a tasty hot meal.
