Whataboutism episode 5478

Didn’t foresee this as a consequence to the rise of the antivax conspiracy. Sure I knew we’d be in trouble to reach herd immunity for the next epidemic/pandemic, but now we have to worry about rabbies in pets too. And what’s next? Antivax farmers refusing to vaccinate their cattle?

Yeah I’had been wondering if the ink and glue in those stickers could be bad for the soil if you threw them in your compost. So as a precaution I throw them in the recycling bin.
Holodomor?
“USA bad so Soviets good” is also propaganda.
I always said school teaches you critical thinking. In other words, to think for yourself.

I don’t work at an office, but at a bicycle workshop. We just have the one computer at the frontdesk to register sales and new memberships (we’re a non-profit association). So the PC doesn’t have TPM 2.0 so I convinced the board to install linux on it, since it’s a security risk to keep using Windows after it’s going to be discontinued. But that wasn’t easy ! Especially because one of the board member is an Apple fanboy and keep saying things like: “If it’s free, it’s probably not very good”. :[
Still putting the US on the same level as Russia in terms of human rights violations is absurd. And the ideal is to improve human rights conditions in both countries, not to argue over which one’s the worst country. Anyway, with how things are going, the US are going to be as bad as Russia in a few years.
Anna Politkovskaya (Novaya Gazeta), Stanislav Markelov (Novaya Gazeta), Anastasia Baburova (Novaya Gazeta) and Natalia Estemirova (Memorial) would like to have a word with you… No wait they can’t, caused they were all killed.
My point is democraties like the US are clearly flawed, but not to the point of assassinating their own citizens. But no point in debating with you, you’re probably an agent hired by Moscow to spread its propaganda.
The comparison is a bit hasty, since in the US your not accused of being a “foreign agent” and imprisoned when you reveal war crimes committed by the army (search about Memorial NGO).
The only reason I kept Windows on my PC was to play League with a friend occasionally. So at some point I removed Windows completely to free disk space and I told my friend he could install Dota 2 if he wants to keep playing with me :D
Poor grandma and grandpa… (totatally true though)
So communism and nazism gave birth to Palestine? Wtf!? I’m having a really big mental block…
But regarding the chinese government, I’m not sure we can call it communist anymore. Authoritarian, imperialist, oppressive and bellicose are more accurate qualifiers; mainly thanks to president Xi.
Most laptops will be more or less fully compatible with linux I think. Though a few niche features like finger print or key card readers might be a hassle to get working. To me, the most important thing is the keyboard since some manufacturers forgo the end of/start of line buttons, for instance.

Was in the same position a few months ago. My only satisfaction was that I’d be able to open a union division in the company. I would have been able to better the working conditions of my colleagues (and mine!) while learning the work of a union representative. Sadly they fired me before I could do that. But now I found a paying job in a non-profit organization and I feel like a human being again!

This is beyond midly infuriating, it could actually be crossposted on !workreform@lemmy.world given the insanity of it.
“Re-education”, that’s one way to describe what they do in these camps. And please stop deflecting with “the West did way worse” arguments. To me, China is just as bad as the West.
