I feel like you skipped over this part way too quickly. Myself and other men have been hearing things like “it’s not manly to cry”, “whining isn’t going to do anything for you”, “being weak is girly”, and countless other things for my entire memorable life

And it’s not just men telling me this. It’s men, women, adults, my classmates, teachers and mentors.

It’s not a good thing. And it’s changing now, which is so good. But man hearing that from your earliest memories makes it really set in.

A few years ago Walmart released a line of gaming computers and the ars technica article I saw was titled something like “Walmart released gaming computers and the prices aren’t awful”.

I copied and pasted the title verbatim and the post got downvoted a ton and all of the comments were trying to give me shit for the prices not actually being good (I feel like they were in line with normal prebuilts but oh well).

The Internet is a weird place. And to be honest, since I left reddit and have been on Lemmy I feel like people here vote with passion instead of based on the content of the post/comment a lot more than reddit. Its one of the only complaints I have so far.

He just had to complain to the apartment complex a bunch (basically every time it happened, as it happened) and eventually they got it sorted. The upstairs neighbor stopped being annoying and moved out shortly after.

In an apartment you will hear your neighbors and it’s unrealistic to expect them to be perfectly silent all the time.

I went to one in Chicago and had some of the best wings I’ve ever had in my life, still to this day.

Went to another one in my home town a few years later, and had terrible, obviously frozen wings.

Ubuntu Server supports Windows Active Directory. I haven’t used it for anything but authentication (and authentication works flawlessly) and some basic directory/share permissions but theoretically it should support group policy too.

It’d be cool if there was a mainstream FOSS alternative though (there might be, I’ve done literally 0 research), but this works okay-ish in the meantime.

But for management of the actual production servers at work I use a combination of ManageEngine (super great and reasonably priced) and Microsoft’s Entra (doesn’t work well, don’t do it)

I actually just switched my tablet from a galaxy tab S8+ to an iPad pro. I use it for work a ton too so it needed to be able to keep up with me, and the iPad is enormously better in basically every way (except side loading which I don’t do anyways) than the Galaxy tab.

Plus its not even like the Galaxy tab was cheaper. It was like $200 less than my iPad and my iPad has cellular which is incredibly nice.

Where? I haven’t heard of any rail lines that don’t have a human operator onboard or somewhere in the loop?

Honestly thats just a user problem, not a Teams one.

Just limit it to files and forms and stuff like that, and explain to users that the teams folders, SharePoint, and the files on their computer are all the same.

Idk I like outlook. Its more feature rich and reliable than any other client Ive used. Especially since basically every company uses Echange for email.

Edit: I should clarify, I dont like outlook overall. But thats more because email in general sucks. Outlook is the best out of all of the email clients though, especially for power users.

The only thing that’s been keeping me on OneNote is the handwriting stuff. I keep trying to move to Obsidian cause I like it but I take notes on my iPad constantly. As much or more than on my computer.

And I really like how OneNote will take my chicken scratch and use OCR to turn it into actual text.

Prusa is based in Prague, and according to some quick googling the average software developer in Prague makes 88k CZK (~3800 USD or ~3500 eur), so about 526 CZK/hr (~22/hr in both USD and EUR).

Which means they’ve potentially spent around 76.7 million CZK (~3.3 million USD, ~3 million EUR) into their slicer. Just for salaries.

This. The proprietary 3d printers arent the “enshitification” of 3d printers, they’re what’s finally going to make them go “mainstream”.

Tech people need to remember how deep into these hobbies we really are, especially compared to “normies”.

Its like with computers, people go “oh well you can get a better bang for your buck on your memory by not going with apple!”. Which sounds great and everything until you remember that people don’t know what memory is or what it does, let alone how to buy new memory, or how to disassemble a computer, or where the memory goes, or even why more memory can be good for you.

I compare it to fabric crafts because I don’t know shit about them. I know (well, think) fabric is sold in bolts and that’s about it. Hell I don’t even know how much a bolt is, and we haven’t even gotten to the different types of fabrics or ways to utilize them.

The vast majority of people don’t want a 3d printer hobby, they just want to 3d print stuff. And the Bambu printers are as close to that as I’ve seen so far.
